From what I'm able to gather, the plane was a 1999 M20R Ovation. He crashed shortly after take-off and was headed to Hawaii, then Australia.

What happened?? There's always a certian amount of risk involved in flying, but it's generally pretty safe.

i was flying fom Oakland, or San fransico to Phoenix and well, i was seated right next to the wings not only did the plane look like it was from the 1970's (the interior decorating was a shure giveaway) but in the middle of the flight while i was looking out the window the fucking wing was bending a little too much for me to be comfortable! like really?
it looked like styrofoam with the strength of a toothpick. scared the shit out of me
If anyone wants me to fly i need a plane that has been recently built with metal wings

Wings are supposed to flex durring flight. If they didn't flex, they'd break, or they'd transfer so much turbulence to the fuselage that it would shake your fillings out of your teeth.
Actually, sitting where you did, where the wings attach to the plane, is the structurally strongest part of an airplane. If you had crashed, you were the most likely to survive.

the wing is supposed to be capable of bending enough to touch the ground.
this told me by a long distance commercial pilot (and ex-landlord) :M
a friend of mine was in a sideways landing-attempt once. small light airplane. they pulled up and tried again.
i asked and nagged and nagged and asked, untill he admitted:
"yes, i clutched the seat and screamed"
"yay!"

I've seen videos of Ernst Udet doing sideways landings just for the lulz. That guy was one of the most incredible pilots EVAR!!
