The pond by my house where I go walking. There's lots of trails:

I can walk to the beach in about 15 minutes or less.  You can walk out that island at low tide where their are ruins and tons of rats

For some reason I had pictured you living in a woodsy type area. Funny when you get an image in your head and then it's nothing like what you thought.

My parents did that. They ended up renting a log house and then eventually buying it. It's been my Dad's pride and joy to fix it up himself. They're on 2.5 acres for forested land (in GA) and an acre of it is cleared. The house has been a fun project for him.

I think most of the ruins are from a religious retreat but there have been many things there since the 1600's when the town was founded.  Its Charles Island http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Island  but a better name would be Rat and Poison Ivy Island :zombiefuck:

I've been intrigued by mountains and the western U.S. since I was a child listening to John Denver singing "Rocky Mountain High."
If I had the view that you have, I'd probably walk into traffic while gawking at the gorgeousness on the horizon!

My Dad was transferred to CO for a year and they had a house that was literally carved into the side of the Rocky Mountains. I loved visiting them there. There was a huge herd of elk that lived there and they would gather in the middle of the narrow road leading up to the house but they knew the truck and would part to let us through. We could have the windows down and they would be close enough where you could feel them breathing if you drove by slowly enough. It was amazing.

A natural spring in down town that was used for town water supply when it was founded over 200 years ago.
Still used for water supply today, but not 100% supply.

But this particular image was taken when the sailing ship (a replica of an 18th century East Indian trader) prominently displayed in the foreground of this picture was leaving on her maiden voyage. It's not always that crowded.

I admire everyone who's history geek btw. cause it IS interesting, i just don;t have patience to sit down and read through it.. :/
so I always sucked at history :(

I'm not a very disciplined reader, but if I could time-travel, I'd go to the Middle Ages in a heartbeat, especially medieval Britain!
Of course, I'd want to be inoculated against the Black Death first, if such an inoculation exists.  :chin:

Just take some anti-biotics with you.

Cool! Start up the time machine, I'm ready to go!  :viking:

Those are upside-down kayaks! Friends of mine live on a lake, so I recognize the shapes.  8)

Yes, they do! I think some people store them upside down to keep them from filling with rainwater, but I'm not sure.   :orly:

I like this thread :)

This is the Skydome, where our baseball team plays. Also a popular concert venue. The dome is retractable which is really cool.

Cool place to hang out. Queen St West. Tons of shops and unique people. It's the artsy district.

My favourite place in the whole city. Kensington Market. The hippie/organic/free trade district.

I basically live in Pittsburgh  :thumbdn: But in a real shit part of it. Everything is old, and there are homeless people, and downtown smells like corned beef. Dont come to pittsburgh, youll regret it

So these guys on youtube are driving though my particular suburb and really just making fun of everything, it is pretty funny.

A natural spring in down town that was used for town water supply when it was founded over 200 years ago.
Still used for water supply today, but not 100% supply.

^ we have streetcars almost exactly like that, except they are white/beige/red. We call it the "t". It actually turns into a subway system in the inner city.
