Title: The "I'm special" mentality
Post by: General Razorbeard on October 28, 2010, 06:59:40 AM
I think I'm worthy of calling myself special, because I've had a special history behind me, the things I've experienced are from another dimension, the persons I've met etc.

I think all kinds of people have thought this at least once during their lifetime, and if they've experienced and/or done something special, they're special, period.

F.ex Bill gates, Steven Spielberg, (James?) Edison, Galileio Galilei etc., they've changed the world.

I may not have changed the world, but I don't need to do that in order to be special, not all special people invent something (although I think I may have, but I won't mention what).

I may be one of the few, if not the only one who has experienced what I did, that makes me special, I've experienced something special.

I'm very aware of that English-speaking people especially think in the "You are nothing special, you're one of us, so don't think you're better than us!" mentality, but that's not gonna stop me from thinking I'm special, my own countrymen do it too, maybe Swedes and Danes as well, but so what?

It isn't a deadly sin to think one's special, although in the end, everyone's special in their own way.

I don't need to get a good job, invent something or do a heroic deed for mankind in order to be special, since plenty of people have done that already, but extremely few people may have experienced what I've done.

Some people are special, like me, and someone aren't, accept it, those who invent something, save mankind or experience something extremely rare are more special than your usual working or middle class guy, the ones who complete the society by being all the parts in the clock or the ants in an ant-lair or whatever It's called, people who stand out are special, finito finale.

You are not special. You are a silly teenage internerd with a low IQ and delusions of importance that are not in line with either your achievements, maturity, wisdom or general persona. You are an oxygen thief.

I think you might be doing 18 year olds a bit of a disservice. I'm pretty sure I wasn't like that 18 months ago, and I don't think I've known any 18 year olds who were like that.

"Special" is in the eye of the beholder.

And one can claim they are special when they do not compare themselves to others, including their countrymen.

Gosh, are we on that topic again?
