don't get me wrong, I love my dog to bits, but she doesnt half stink
cats on the other hand, I could sniff cats all day, makes me want to eat them :arrr:
-
when kitty was a kitten, and i lived w my (much more social) brother, we would pass kitty around like a rag, for everyone to take deep sniffs of
cus she smelled so nice
-
No idea why, but it sure is true. Cats smell great.
Cats that spray though..... :zombiefuck:
-
I'm thinking it's because cats are overall cleaner than dogs. They spend so much time grooming themselves (I guess if you're a cat, covering yourself with your own spit makes the rest of us think you smell good :P ) whereas dogs depend on humans to bathe them regularly. Plus, some dogs have a stronger smell to them than others. Mochi (my friend's dog that I was taking care of) he didn't smell at all. But I can't be around hound dogs for long. Their scent makes me sneeze.
-
I understand that dachshunds do not have an odor. I don't ever recall our doxies smelling.
The Corgis in the Palace, now that's another story.
I have noticed that cats will have fish breath after eating sometimes.
-
So true.
Seems to get so much worse if they get caught out in the rain too. :zombiefuck:
-
my mom has a cat and i think she stinks. especially when she pees of you get next to her mouth after shes just got done licking herself after eating meow mix. :P
she also has a dog though, and dogs fart like bad, and more than human do :thumbdn:
-
My dog only smells like dog right after running around outside, even when recently bathed.
-
I think cats smell nice. I am allergic to them though.
-
Cats smell good because they're superior beings. No really. Dogs are great, but I think cats are just one of those perfect accidents.
-
Years ago my then-landlady brought home an orange tabby kitten who turned out to be the warmest and friendliest cat ever!
Anyway, when he was little, the top of his head smelled spicy, kind of a hint of cinnamon or cloves, a dessert-like smell.
-
Lol its always the top of the head, too. :green:

okay was it you and me that had the puppy popcorn talk before? as soon as I wrote that I remember someone I know saying they smelled like popcorn but I couldn't remember who.

I love the new puppy smell. It's unique.

I finally have Flo's ashes. It came with a card with a poem on it and condolences. I haven't read the poem yet though because it wqill make me sad
-
Aww soph  I often wonder what I will do when it's Destiny's time. She's 14 now and I can't even fathom not having her with me every day. I've had to put pets down before, but she's different.
-
It's horrible isn't it. Flo was almost 14 too. I'd had her since I was 8, practically all my life. or almost all of my life I can remember properly.
Sounds weird and I wouldn't have expected it, but getting Jess so soon after has actually really helped me I think. Instead of everything being a really sad reminder or Flo like everything was when my friend died, things remind me of Jess. Obviously I still think about Flo alll the time, but not in that horrible constant way I used to feel reminded of Sophie when she died. obviously a cat and a person are different, but I think if I didn't have Jess now I would have coped with thios a lot lot worse. Also Lily has helped.
-
I agree. It gives you something new to focus on and you can get to knew Jess for her own quirks.
-
Yeah she is reallly different to Flo
I still call her for (or something I used to call Flo a lot) sometimes and it always shocks me when I do, like shit what have I done lol, but it's not like a replacement for Flo because they're completely different
-
Don't worry about it. I've called my kids by each others names and they're opposite genders.
-
lol my nana does that with me and my cousins. Especially my brothers as they're both named L...

LOL, my dad sometimes had to use the names of all his kids, before he had the right one.

Is this a jeopardy question.
What are sweat glands.
JAG!!!
-
Budgies also smell nice. Like a round, mild, aromatic scent.
After bathing, they get all poofy, and nice to grab and sniff :)

My Grandfather rest his soul used to go through my Uncles' names and his grandsons names to get to the right one.
-
^Why do people do that?
My grandmother in Spain + my aunt, they never get my name right, always calls me by my brothers name, and his by mine -.-
yet they KNOW it's the other way around!
My grandpa here used to just make up names for us. Most women in the family he called "Sofie" and most males "Christian" or "Halvor", no matter their name.

I figure Rage would've started this thread. :dunno:

*Snuggles cat* ....it's the smell of calm.
At least for this crazy old cat lady.

:indeed: :agreed:
The neighbour cat has the most foul way of farting though.
-
Our cat Liam even smells nice after he has been rolling in dirt and comes inside grey instead of white. The top of his head smells lovely, I thought about this after what cbc and Rage said.
-
Sirius smells good. Luna, she smells awesome.
Big difference. Luna is almost OCD about washing herself. Sirius just doesn't care. He lets Luna wash him every now and then. Maybe that makes the difference in how good they smell.
-
It is so sweet when cats wash each other. Liam would wash Mollie if she let him but she just won't.

My purrinces wash eachother like little fags.
-
Cats can't be fags I don't think but they probably do love each other.
-
They do mount eachother and bite the necks. The two oldest ones. The youngest one tries to avoid getting raped, but sometimes he isn't fast enough.

Interesting. I say that because both our cats are sterilised yet Liam still tries to mount Molly and he bites (well tries to) her on the neck. She has no clue about what he is doing and they usually end up smacking each other around a bit.

My former landlady said the mounting stuff is often just intended to establish an alpha. :heisenberg:
She also had a very large dog, neutered, who would still try to mate with female dogs
because he remembered how.
-
Well Liam was a tom for the first two years of his life (his owner was slack and didn't sterilise him) so I think he got a fair bit of action. He looked awful when he came to us - dirty, chunks of fur missing and very thin. That changed within a few months and I couldn't blame him for choosing to stay with us.
-
One of my cats smells ok and the other one smells terrible. He's not toilet trained enough so he gets pee on his backside fur.
-
Usually the mother cat teaches the kittens.
-
Yeah I dunno what's going on. He was 10 weeks old when I got him and he was in a family of cats (3 adults and 7 kittens) so he should have learned.
Whenever I clean his litter tray the crystals are still glowing white, meaning he doesn't pee in there (he does poos in there though). He pees on the laundry tiles beside the tray, which I constantly have to mop up with enzyme detergent. Frankly I'm ashamed of owning him sometimes
-
It is similar with Molly who is now 11. In an open litter tray she hangs her bum over the edge of it and poos on the floor. Every time. Peeing, she's fine. So we bought a covered tray. Liam will go in it (as well as the bath) but Molly won't, most likely because Liam's smell is in there. So she has to go outside. It's the only solution. Luckily we have sand in the backyard.
Maybe you can catch him peeing and quickly drop him into the tray?
-
Maybe a top entry litterbox will help.

I want to get one of those so Liam doesn't spray the wall next to the litter tray. Really, I would rather he just peed in the bath like he does sometimes because that's so easy to clean afterwards, just run the water.
And now we have a new girl kitten. Kayleigh named her Kira. At first she was pooing in the lounge room on the mat (it's a big mat that almost covers the whole lounge room) and it made me gag to clean it up. We got sick of getting up to that every morning so Kayleigh came up with blocking the gap between the lounge room and the dining room with her large storage crates every night. So far this has worked.
