Wen to the shop to get ciggies the other day, and I got asked for ID for proof of age :o
Well I didn't have any, even though I just turned 37, and then the manager came out and he couldn't tell my age, so my man had to get them for me. :zombiefuck:
I don't look that young.

What? they didn't look at your licence? Or don't you drive.
Fucking hell, that shop-owner must have worse eyesight than me. Funny thing is, there are still some 15-16 year olds who DO get them, even with the proof of age thing.
-
I don't drive steve-o. Never have. Mucho scary to have me on the road.
The strange thing is that when I told them how old I was it made it worse, 'cause they didn't believe me. So then they got more suspicious. If I said I was like, 21 or something, they might have sold it to me.
I must look young in my tracky dacks :zoinks:

I don't ever remember getting asked for my age. When I was about 17 or even younger I could get served in a pub, but sometime later I looked younger than what I was.
Now I've got nothing much on top with a long(ish) beard (which could do with a trim). Don't care about how old or young I look, a long as the people around me don't make a fuss. And if they did, I wouldn't care anyway.
-
I have gotten carded in bars before, too. One time, I wasn't even ordering an alcoholic drink but the manager said I had to show my ID just to stay and drink my Sprite. ::)
-
Last time I was asked for ID for beer was at age 34 IIRC. Now there is no way in hell that I'll be mistaken for under 21.

If govts had their way they'd bring in an oldies ID card, for people to give justification why they should be able to drink or drive when OVER a certain age (like in their 60s, 70s or so on). Actually, I think they are trying that shit with driving already.

Uh why is it an issue to be asked to show ID? I think it's a compliment. Who doesn't want to look young?
-
My husband was going to work one time and someone thought he was younger than he really is. He was 34 at the time or 33 and he showed the person his ID and he said it was a fake ID.My husband asked "why would I have a fake ID if I am over 21?" and the person said he maybe had it before he turned 21. Dumb ass.
But I told him he should take it as a compliment. The guy thought he was in his twenties and then wouldn't believe him when he said how old he really was.

it has happend to me before

sometimes theyre too fucking rigid (such as cops handcuffing 5 year old girl, i saw on dr phil yesterday :D)
other times theyre are down to earth and human, my mother got asked ID once, she was in her 40s. she went "lady... im in my 40s... " "OOOOH sorry! oopsie!" and she got the cigs without having to prove anything.

The point is, Loup at 37 shouldn't have even been ASKED. I cannot imagine anyone of that age being mistaken for 17. early 30s, late 20s, but not teens. The shop-owner either was being a smartarse or maybe thought Loup's autism looked more obvious than it would to any of us. Either way, the guy should have known better.
-
they don't ask for IDs here. 90% of the time they sell anything to anyone.
sometimes if they ask, and youre not 18 yet, you can tell it's for your dad or something like that, and they sell it to you anyway.
yay, slovakia sucks :D

:indeed: Last year, when I was 43, a young guy at my evening job thought I was only 28. :cheer:

But it's great to look young. I'd get asked for my ID when I would go to this video game place for free gaming because it be 21 and up only. I still can't grasp why it's an issue. If she were 67 and she got carded, then I would understand and also think that was bogus. I mean what kind of 67 year old would look to be in their twenties? I knew of one woman that age who looked to be in her late forties or fifties and I was shocked when she told me her age. She hardly had any wrinkles and she didn't have any gray or white hair. She had to show her ID to the bus drivers when she use her Honor Citizen bus pass though but that was different because those bus passes are for people who are 65 and up or for people with disabilities or veterans and she looks much younger than 65.
And it doesn't matter if you don't look under 21, they still card you because they go by their policy. Some places require their employers to card anyone who looks under 30 or 25. Uh okay.
My husband is 35 and he still gets carded. Sometimes he whines about it and I tell him it should be a compliment. He doesn't even look to be in his teens, he looks to be in his 20's but places here are required to card anyone who looks that young.

It's not always cool to look young. I wish I looked older :-[

Here, because of the ferals in the Anti-Cancer movement, they decided it was a big issue about kids under 18 smoking. So, they decided that anyone who wanted smokes should show ID. Fair enough if you were close to that age, but 37? It always will seem a retarded approach to circumvent something that will never be stopped, because 1) kids will always find friends to get them, and 2) fake IDs.
-
I had a neighbor who looked to be in her 20's and she was in her late thirties. Lot of people thought her teen daughter was her sister or that she was a teen mom who had her in her teens. I can remember her telling that story to my mother and I thought that was so awesome.
-
If I look that young, it has generally worked against me. Maybe mental health professionals, police, teachers and so on would have taken me more seriously if I looked older. That is why occasionally I will wear makeup if I want to be taken seriously.
No joke, but up until the age of about 21, I had short hair. I was often mistaken for a guy. I was a late developer due to all the years of ballet that I did, so I had the body of a 15 year old boy until I was about 20.
So, I should take being asked for ID as a compliment, but it takes me back to all the years that I was never listened to. Like Steve-o said, young looks with mild Autistic mannerisms makes Loup a dull boy ;). It also made it very hard to tell people how sick I was until medicine could prove it. For about 3 years I thought I was dying, but because I looked so young and healthy, people thought I was being a hypochondriac
Probably why I was so agro for so many years, and still am sometimes.

There are signs at coles, woolies etc that specify they check ID if you look under 25. Although i'm that age now, I've usually had a bit of facial hair, so whenever I get carded I glare at the cashier like they're an idiot.

I got carded at the liquor store last year.
Guy behind the counter was surely in his 60's though. I think his eyesight isn't real good.
