Title: Hello I^2
Post by: Ergo Proxy on July 27, 2010, 04:53:07 AM
Hey there! This is my first post over here, although I've known about this site for several years. Normally I post on AFF, and I used to post on WP not too long ago, as far as aspie forums go. I'm actually active on a multitude of forums not related to Asperger's.

Anyways, a little about myself:

I'm in college, working my way up for a degree in Astronomy. I'm from Massachusetts, but currently I'm in Utah. Thankfully, I get to go back in a couple of weeks, since Utah is populated by a bunch of Morons...err, "Mormons".

My hobbies include reading, mathematics, science, video games, traveling, astronomy, science fiction, and wasting lots of time on the internet.

I've decided to join here because this site seems like it is a good escape from the otherwise hectic lifestyle that I happen to live. That and this place is far more liberal than the mainstream aspie websites. Although, this site is tame compared to some of the other forums that I frequent.

And with that, enough about my life story. Just direct me to the nearest idiot that I can flame to oblivion  >:D

If you look at the board's title, you'll find that it's actually a special character, not a superscript-tagged "2".

Personally I prefer Up Arrow notation, since you can express trillions upon trillions of power towers quite easily.

If this website ever becomes badass enough, it should be renamed Intensity /|\ /|\ 3

As I may also tell you, this place is not moderated so prepare to back-up your words. Or face the wrath of the community.

It might still be no match for Parts and his powder-puff-pink expression of power.

So far it looks like either radio or observational astronomy. Each one has its pros and cons, but at least with radio astronomy you can have a normal sleep schedule since it can be done during the day. Also, stars tend to be a lot more interesting in wavelengths other than the visible light spectrum.

I beg to differ. Up-Arrow notation has way more power than the color pink or using bigger font sizes. With it I can measure powers so large that there won't be enough space in the universe to actually write out all the digits.

All it takes is adding another arrow, or just simply using a higher value for the right hand side.

Yeah, I've heard "pink parts" at least once in a movie here in the States, so I kind of knew I was double-entendre-ing,
and I did it anyway! It was irresistible! I2 is corrupting me!

Agreed. I did a lot of VLBI on quasars while studying astronomy which was fun, but OTOH, it's a pain to get that kind of antenna time and if you do it for a living, you'll end up in Chile and most likely on grants.

Good luck, whatever you decide to do.
