Title: Dogs and pets
Post by: Parts on April 11, 2010, 06:19:26 PM
How many people have animals as companions?  Cats are nice but dogs are my favorite.  I always think it's strange our connection goes back so far at   minimum 15,000 years some say much more than that.  I feel such a kinship to them much more than people.  I could not live with out them

Cats are far more refined than dogs. They never smell bad, they're never dirty, and they don't follow you around like a stupid dog.  8)

I love dogs so much! I don't want a pet of my own, but I'm proud to be the regular dogsitter for a wonderful group of shelties.

It really is heartwarming to have loyal dogs curled up on the bed with you.

That's true...I have to stake out "my" space on the bed when I dogsit, otherwise one of them will lie on the end of the bed and I won't be able to straighten my legs!

I like dogs, but I connect better with cats.

Inlaws had an unpredictable boxer that ran close to 200 lbs, it used to always want to lick my neck.
Never did that to anyone else, although it did bite a couple of relatives, whether they were deserving or not I don't know.

Never quite sure if it was licking out of affection or hunger, but I have to say knowing the nature of the dog... that used to freak me out quite a bit. :zombiefuck:

So true. You can't use the excuse that "it's the postperson's fault." They stop believing that tale, once it's been repeated a few too many times.  :evillaugh:

Brown Mackereal Tabbys, short haired female and medium hair male.

I'd show you a picture if they bothered to stay still enough for a photo.

With a houseful of kids, you're asking us for suggestions

I keep thinking salt and pepper. Mind you, our pets always have some food 'theme' predominately. Unless they are really cute, like our guinea pig, who looks exactly like a panda and is named accordingly.

I like ironic food names too. Like my Siamese Fighting Fish, who was called Sushi.

Unfortunately, the food theme also spilled onto my Sims babies who have been named in the past such things as "Pikelet", "Muffin", "Strawberry" etc. I kind of got sick of the food names and went a bit sick....

ashamed to admit it, but the last couple were called "Herpes" and "Syphillis"....I wouldn't recommend those as names for your family pets though  ;)

Yeah the kids haven't come up with any names. The boys are too busy with their video games to notice I think. Well one plays video games, ones plays with a video game level editor and the other spends his time looking at star trek or sonic wikis etc.

A family of guinea pigs of my acquaintance all had names like Sugar, Mocha, Caramel, Cappuccino, etc. depending on their colouration.

My guinea pigs were grumble and fred, my brothers were bubble and squeak. as seems to be normal 1 of each pair died first so we were left for a while with grumble and squeak!

I'm absolutely faceblind when it comes to guinee pigs.

Mackerel and Tuna would be nice names for mackerel coloured cats.

I found this list http://www.cat-dog-names.com/page/category/116/ but we still haven't found one everyone likes.

The wife wants to name them Luke and Lea, but I personally think that's too geeky.

I think I'll have to get some photos up.

I agree with you, sounds a bit like Luke and Warm.

We had a couple with names of detectives when I was a kid. Sherlock Holmes and Maigret. Years and years ago. Their sibblings that went elsewhere got names of explorers, like Columbus.

Our last one was called Pius, because of his deep devotion towards the fridge.

I had a friend who insisted on calling her pets human names.

Her cats were called Derek and Trevor.

Which was kind of original I thought.

Yes, they are both Hooded - one Black Hooded, one Brown Hooded.

Patch is a Rex though, meaning he's got slightly curly, slightly patchy fur.
