What, that you can remember and posting it wouldnt dredge up painful memories, is the dumbest thing you've ever done.
Mine is when me and my father went bay fishing during a tornado. We were trying to find something we'd enjoy doing together(which we have failed at grotesquely) and we tried to go fishing. We tried sea fishing, and lake fishing, and all had been failures, so we tried fishing in the bay. We got in a rental boat, rented at Polly's boats by the way, the most cheap and shitty looking establishment outside of butt-fuck no where and drove out for 15 minutes, then sat there for an hour, and then it occured to us we should try turning off the motor incase it was scaring away the fish. Then it got windy and rainy, and the rain was coming at us from the side so the canopy was useless, and we were drenched and freezing, and we didnt catch any fish, and then we decided.... fuck it. So we tried to turn the motor back on..... 30 minutes later we figured out how to do that. And apparently we had drifted because it took us 45 minutes to drive back to where we started. And then we decided to free the minoes. And then we dumped them overboard, only realizing at the last moment it was into the motor. And we finally got back onto (relatively) dry land, shambled into the car and declared it the dumbest thing we've ever done.

Apparently I have no respect for the sanctity of life, because that was the most hilarious thing I read all day.
I've done my share of dumb things, but unfortunately all the spectacularly dumb ones seem to have erased themselves from my memory. I know they're in there though, hiding, somewhere.... If inspiration strikes, I will be back.

More than a year ago I had to have my wisdom teeth cut out. When I got home I was exhausted and in a ton of pain. My mouth was sealed shut from dried blood, and I didn't want to eat anything. Unfortunately I had to eat something in order to take the painkillers prescribed to me. So I ate a chocolate pudding knowing damn well it wouldn' be enough food for me and took the pill. Five minutes later I was throwing up all of the blood I had swallowed duing the procedure. I had been wondering why I felt so full when I got home.

That's hysterical (in the telling, that is). I especially love that bit about freeing the minnows. There's something "Finding Nemo"-ish about it.
Anyway, sounds like every family vacation I've ever been forced to go on. You get back home and wonder why in hell you left in the first place.

I've done my share of dumb stuff too.....
But the most recent occurred this past winter when I hopped on the motorcycle for a ride when my mind was preoccupied with something else.
I lost sight of how dangerous motorcycling was.
My lack of presence of mind that day resulted in me getting in a wreck with a truck.
I managed to walk away with relatively minor injuries, just severe bruising ...nothing broken on me...bike totaled.

As a kid somebody took My front tire off My bike I did not tighten bolts good enough. When I popped a wheelie and the front tire came off I landed My knees it hurted like hell.

every day is like a new challenge for me to see how many dumb things i can do before bedtime. :laugh:
here are two recent examples (both of these incidents happened within the last week):
1. i came home from work and went to the bathroom. upon entering the bathroom, i noticed two small black marks on the wall. i stood there, wondering how the marks had come to be there and why i hadn't noticed them before.
it was some time before i realised that the bathroom wallpaper had been stripped off (my mum had removed it during the day) and the reason why i had not seen the marks before was because the wallpaper had previously been covering them.
how i managed to notice two tiny marks but completely miss the fact that all the wallpaper had been removed, i don't know.
2. i went in the garage to get some pet food (that's where i keep it) to feed my cat and noticed that my one-year-old niece's pram was in there, facing the wall. before i reached across the pram to get the cat food, i stopped to check that my niece wasn't inside it - as if my sister or mother were likely to leave a baby alone, shut in a garage, at night time. ::)

Many things come to mind, but one particular night at the casino seems to stand out..............I was playing roulette and was lucky - I started with 50 euro's and played only on colours -, eventually building my amount of chips up to a value of 1600 euro's.
But I got greedy and wanted more. Boy I wish someone was there to slap some sense into me, because me winning streak turned into a losing streak; and at the end of the night I had to leave the casino with empty pockets.
Did get free drinks though.

I seem to have blocked most of them from my memory, or (in many cases) too drunk/caned to remember them in enough detail for them to bother me. Buying a huge fucking coat for £130 on my first day of a new sales job in a fit of optimism was pretty dumb though. I think I wore it three times after I quit the job a week later... :darnit:

the dumbest thing that i ever did was when i was taking CSCI 1300 the first time during my college career we were giving an assignment to code an eye that the pupil will follow the mouse. i was so freaking out because of my executive dysfunction that i could not see where to even begin. so i took my friends program and stupidly changed my name and nothing else and i got caught that was the dubest thing that i have ever did

ONE of the dumbest things I've done was to leave a can of cooking spray on a hot grill. I do get the CONCEPT that heating aerosol cans is dangerous, but I didn't apply it to
the particular situation I was in at work. Usually when I work on the grill, I use a pan of melted butter, not the cooking spray. So quite thoughtlessly I set the can down
on the hot grill, as I would have done with a pan of butter, and left it unattended...the cook who was in charge that day found it and removed it,
otherwise I might not be here typing this now. :-[

Crack
I was drunk at a party one night and I really wanted to get high, but nobody had any weed. Someone pulls out a crack pipe and says "you want a rip?" I had blown lines of powder coke before so I figured it would be essentially the same, well as it turned out, I was somewhat right except that crack is next to useless and it hurts to inhale.
Another fun moment was tying the end of a 100 foot length of 22-gauge copper wire to a model rocket and shooting it off under the power lines, the result was a lightning bolt and the power going out throughout the whole town for about an hour. Luckily I did it at a friend's house in a different town, and although I wish I videoed it, it's probably better that there was no evidence to lead the authorities to know who did it. That was about 15 years ago.

I didn't turn off the power to the oven at the circuit breaker. The oven was off. I realized that it was a bad idea not to work on it like that when my screwdriver made an electrical connection and a big spark flew. Then I shut off the power to the oven.

If it weren't for safety trip switches, I would be dead loads of times. I used to work in a wet environment with electric powered fans.

My son draws amazing animals and then cuts them out, like paper dolls. He draws them in 2D in such a way, that he then bends and folds them to simulate 3D after he cuts them out.
I have been hounding him - well no, I have been hounding him - wait let me try again, I have been hounding him - OK, I have been hounding him to NOT cut them out, but to set his drawings into backgrounds and create landscapes that support his drawings.
Today, my very artistic son (in an effort to please his father) made an incredible drawing of his "Greek mythology scene" including a crying Griffin, with tears of fire bleeding from his eys, mourning over a fossilised broken skeleton of an ancient, dead Griffin, set in a harsh rock background with a volcano spitting fire into the sky and burning trees in the foreground, but a lake of hope nearby (his ability to draw in proper perspective amazes me).
He then cut the entire thing into a kind of jigsaw puzzle and presented it to me as a gift.
I had to put it back together to find out what his gift was all about.
I know this kid - he is MY kid - and he so intelligent and incredibly sensitive and feeling of the powers of nature and the way to reach into peoples' hearts, that I just have to take deep breaths sometimes to keep from showing him too much emotion, before I can respond to him, most of the time. Hell - damn near all of the time.
His sum is so much more than his parts.
Not sure it was really all that dumb, but right now, I am still amazed in his way of meeting the challenge I put before him.

This happened last year and it was pretty stupid but it just happened, lol.
Basically, I was leaving the house getting ready for college and what i did half way was forget my college pass.
I ended up going all the way back and that took half an hour.
When I arrived, I sure had been in trouble for being completely late, literally 1 hour late and I ended up forgetting something else....
My money.

I could never narrow this down to onr thing. I do something dumb every week. I just had new car a few days and a lorry parked behind me blocking me in. I thought I could reverse through the gap, but it was miles to small. I smashed my back windscreen and boot and the car spent weeks in the garage getting fixed.

And then at around the same time. I brought my friends little brothers and sister out for a drive. The youngest brother wanted a shot at driving, so like the idiot I am I found a big empty carpark, and without any instructions I let him loose. He was about 13 at the time. He got up to a decent speed and turned the wheel, but without braking. The car went round the corner on 2 wheels and the young girl was screaming her eyes out. Their parents were nice enough about it, but they never let any of their younger children get in a car I was driving again.
