BTW take note how religion plays a role in this current case and in the other two cases mentioned in the article. As if I needed another reason to hate religion. >:(

As it was, she already stabbed herself in the chest and slit her own throat.

And Andrea Yates really was insane. She had severe postpartum depression and psychosis. She also had it after the birth of her second-youngest child and she and her husband were advised by her psychiatrist not to have any more children, but they had their youngest child and she went psychotic again. She had been in the hospital and had been taking Haldol until shortly before she killed the children. Against the orders of her doctor, who told her husband not to leave her alone with the children at all, her husband decided to leave them alone with her for an hour twice a day so she wouldn't become too dependent on the help she had been getting.

I agree, especially if it is a psychosis specific to postpartum issues and not a longer-term psychotic disorder. Either way once she gets stabilized she will will be in agony. This woman was in and out of psych wards. She could be truly evil, but she could be merely insane. Pity her child more, but pity her as well.

Intelligent husband trusting a woman on one of the worst antipsychotics that ever existed to be alone with the children. :facepalm2:

Andrea did not get off because she got hospitalized. Doesn't getting off mean being let back out in the real world and getting away with murder and not getting sent to the state hospital or prison where you will be for life?
