I know this is somewhat simplistic but why have some many people throughout the ages picked the Jews . Different.kept to themselves or just a scapegoat and easy
-
I knew nothing about Judaism until the other day I read the Hanukkah story for the first time.
The whole MO and overarching glorified theme is about the little guy kicking the ass of those in power.
I imagine that's ticked off a lot of groups in power throughout history.
-
The Jews have decided to make themselves hate figures then have the cheek to whine about it. Really they have made themselves a distraction from the real issues about. The fact is that nearly no-one would recognise a Jew as one on the street. Really (through political experience) I have found them to be narcissistic whiners who scream "not fair" the moment someone dares speak against Israel. Makes you wonder why some people agree with the conspiracy theories really...

Look for the hooked nose.
One reason a lot of people hate them is because they frequently exclude non Jews, and historically they did a lot of the banking. Or they just watched a Woody Allen movie.
The main thing I don't like about them is how they push to reproduce quickly, although they are not the worst offenders.

The hooked nose is a stereotype of the past truth is I find them very hard to recognize unless Orthodox.

Reminds me of the motto of the Texas Rangers (peace officers, not baseball players): "Little guy'll whup a big guy, long as the little guy's in the right and keeps a'comin'."

This is pure bullshit. They didn't make themselves hate figures, others did that for them. It's like saying that they only had themselves to blame.

You should come and visit my uni and see how they are reacting to a proposed Israeli boycott which is being done as a humanitarian protest. Yes there was the Holocaust 60 years ago. Its what some of them have done over the last 60 years which has retained a lot of the hate.

Antisemitism was alive and well long before Hitler wrote his little book.

What is significant about the Holocaust is that its bandied about as an excuse for some very wrong things done by Israelis. Deliberately shooting children in the head is hardly the best way to spread about goodwill.
-
I have nothing against Jews, but I love Jewish jokes.
-
I don't hate them, but I laugh at their so-called "race" concept. It's just a religion, at the end of the day.
-
They have more balls than most of "us" cowardly gentiles. They don't lick Arab arse, they kill them!

It shouldn't be an excuse for anything, but allowing antisemitism to grow (for example, by hinting that the Jews have had only themselves to blame) will eventually result in bad things happening again. Israel, of course, does little to avoid this; consider, for example, the recent events at Gaza.

If they don't want antisemitism to grow the Jews know exactly what to do. Its not like the Germans are really hated 60 years along, nor the Japanese (well outside of China anyway). The Jews on the other hand - well that would be a different story...

The Jews live all over the world. Why should they, or even the common citizen in Jerusalem, be condemned for something the government in Israel does? Would *you* like to be judged according to what Gordon Brown decides?

Because they all chose to move to Israel and occupy Palestinian land, at least as far as the Israelis are concerned (well over 90% in Israel support the war in Gaza btw). As for Brown, I have campaigned for him politically, so obviously yes. Brown is a very good man stuck in a bad political system.
If any Jew wants to protest the situation in Palestine, I imagine that they would be regarded with a lot more respect.

All of them? As far as I know, there are Jews spread all over the world. As for Brown, good for you, but would you want to assume some sort of responsibility for any bad decision he might make? Would you want to be persecuted because of something he did?
Did you actually look for the protests by Jews against what happened in Gaza? A quick Google reveals this (http://us.oneworld.net/article/359487-israel-rejects-ceasefire-despite-international-pressure), to offer but one example.
-
Why do the Arabs whine that much? They have plenty of living space.

Yes - and unless anyone kicks up an uber fuss about it - then noone is really going to notice.

Want to, no. But I have to deal with it if it happens. Why should Jewish people be granted a special exemption from that system?

The protests are very limited compared to those who support the war. (btw I am actually involved in the protests against the war - so actually have a realistic idea as to what is going on)

Yes and that doesn't include Pakistan and Indonesia well as far as Muslims go anyway

Why do you whine so much? You have plenty of living space, even without a fucking cave.

You still want to hold them personally responsible because politicians in Israel act like morons? That's very open-minded of you.

They are not. But according to your logic, *you* should be take the blame for what Bush did. After all, you're both male and white.

Sorry, I don't believe this at all. Are you actually out there, protesting, writing to the politicians, getting involved? I find it very hard to believe, coming from a kid that doesn't want to be visible when it comes to defend his own group, the spazzes.
You should probably do another Google search, or at least find some other dorm window to check the world through.

Actually yes - in the same way I would hold "out" gay people responsible for Stonewall et al. Its not like they have to take megaphones out and announce they are Jewsish ffs.

Yeah - because I live in the US and happen to live in a country which has 90% rating for its governments actions. ::)

Actually, for the record I have spent a lot of time and energy on it. Unlike some, I am a humanitarian and believe from that perspective that anyone who backs Israel and their actions is pretty disgusting for doing so.
As for not wanting to be totally visible, I have very good reasons for not doing so.

Because they killed Jesus
duh
-
I don't like the Jews very much, but I hate the Arabs/Muslims. Who the hell do they think they are? ::)
-
You know I am looking through this whole thread and those of you that said they hate jews could not come up with one justifiable logical reason to. I guess hating jews is just the in thing to do.

There is plenty of logic in hating religion and those who perpetuate it within society. If you are the hating type of course.

Best one so far I was not aware that they were any different than me they had a temple across the street from my church(catholic) I'd ask my mom why they were always walking she said that's what they did

Iirc there almost as many Jewish people living in America as there are in Israel. So if they all went back to Israel wow there would be some overcrowding.

I think that there are actually more Jewish people living in the US (6.5 million) than there are living in Israel (5.0 million).

I just found this on Wikipedia. I wonder about it though, so citation needed. ;) Numbers change all the time.

Some of those figures might be wrong. It's still very unpopular to be Jewish in eastern Europe, for instance.

Thanks, Renaeden. I guess I was wrong.

I agree about the numbers. There may be Jewish people that are not included in thos numbers. It also depends on when that table was made. Numbers fluctuate. So Callaway you may be right.

There is plenty of logic in hating religion and those who perpetuate it within society. If you are the hating type of course.
Where's the logic in hating a religion? Some of a religion's followers, sure, but all of them? The religion itself? Explain.

They all choose to follow said religion - its a lifestyle choice that people can be more than held accountable for. Religions in general damage society, more than enough of a reason to hate them.

Agreed, covert anti-Semitism (i.e. anti-Zionism) is pretty fashionable these days.
-
With just .2% of population why hate them.
Even what happened nearly 2000 years ago with Jesus it was really only the Romans that really killed Him. Because they where the ones in power then.

Interestingly, religion is the basis of much the Western society, directly or indirectly. Most people no longer go to church every Sunday, but religion is nevertheless the basis of a lot of its values, conventions, moral codes, and so on. It would be interesting to see what kind of society we would have without the religious influences over the millennia.
To hate someone because they choose to follow a religion seems a bit extreme to me, something usually reserved for the so-called extremists.
-
I don't hate them, but I laugh at their so-called "race" concept. It's just a religion, at the end of the day.
shit it gingerboy, you're jealous their whole race is based on being good looking.
anyway what i really don't get is why it's not generally accepted for people to say shit about "african americans" but everyone can hate on the jews.

Really? I guess it depends on where you are.

it's just how it seems to me. even jews themselves seem often self-deprecating. blacks have more pride and people are scared to talk shit of them for fear of being accused of racism. some, like pea, even claim jews aren't a race so how can you be racist being anti-semitic?
-
You're not racist, in that case, you are a bigot.
Considering what the Jews have been through for the last couple of thousand years, I'd say they are as proud as anyone.

How is a bigot to discriminate on peoples lifestyle choices?
2. A person who regards his own faith and views in matters of
religion as unquestionably right, and any belief or
opinion opposed to or differing from them as unreasonable
or wicked. In an extended sense, a person who is
intolerant of opinions which conflict with his own, as in
politics or morals; one obstinately and blindly devoted to
his own church, party, belief, or opinion.
[1913 Webster]

We have moved on from 1913 where religion was totally sacrosanct and everyone was expected to follow it. Religion is a form of bigotry (by your definition) anyway, so intolerance of bigotry = bigotry, right? Well by your logic anyway.

Religious people have small and narrow brains.
One of the few good things with Sweden is that religious people are usually looked upon as the idiots they are here. There is a "Christian Democratic" party in the government, but they have no real power and will never get any.

You can say the same thing about nationalists.

Religious belief is the wrong thing to base decisions on. How about ppl thinking for themselves for once? I feel entitled to discriminate against their own choice to be morons.

But the key above had nothing to do with religion: a person who is intolerant of opinions which conflict with his own.
That's you, Hadron.

"Generally, in modern secular usage, Jews include three groups: people who were born to a Jewish family regardless of whether or not they follow the religion, those who have some Jewish ancestral background or lineage (sometimes including those who do not have strictly matrilineal descent), and people without any Jewish ancestral background or lineage who have formally converted to Judaism and therefore are followers of the religion."

Not religion, per se, but those who follow it can be.
But the key above had nothing to do with religion: a person who is intolerant of opinions which conflict with his own.
That's you, Hadron.
Not at all - it says nothing about behaviour in there. Which is what I despise about loads of the religious people. You should try spending a week in my uni ffs - conversion week is coming soon. See what you think of it.

Why should I? What makes you think that your uni is special? Try real life some time.

going down hill :kevv:

Why should I? What makes you think that your uni is special? Try real life some time.
Because at least when you go out in the street you don't have religious nutters harrassing other students en masse or converting vulnerable people to extreme versions of Christianity. Frankly I think if people are that moronic, they should not be allowed to attend university imo.

It's actually weird that religious people are considered mentally sane.

I had people try to convert me to their religion when I went to university also. Their MO was insidious. First they tried to befriend me and then they tried to convert me, but fortunately I was not susceptible to conversion.
We also had itinerant sidewalk Fundamentalist preachers screaming their messages to the students as they passed.

Some of their conversion tactics are even worse than the ones that you describe - one included trying 6 on 1 conversations. They also try to hijack pretty much every event for conversion week. Wanna play table tennis in your college? Best join the Christian table tennis tournament. Wanna to walk across a bridge into town? Best learn how to walk through people. Wanna go to your lectures? Best close your eyes to avoid the array of hoodies with religious nonsense written on them.
Its ridiculous that they don't ban the whole thing. I have a V for Vendetta mask on order for conversion week.

what the fuck is conversion week?

Don't know if this has already been stated, but the reason there are many Jewish bankers and other academic proffessionals is because this has been their trade for many generations. Why? They were not granted the right to own land and hence farm in ye olde Europe. They had no choice but to live in the towns and carry out the jobs they could to make a living in exchange for their food.
-
The fact is that nearly no-one would recognise a Jew as one on the street.
I knew I wrote that last post for a reason...
So yeah, nothing to do with being greedy. Also, any racial/ethnic/religious minority will act exclusively because, of course, they are treated the same way :P
-
and the noses are hot, i dunno how that can be an insult. jews have obviously awesome noses. also their awesome hair gives them away. racists are just jealous.

It's kind of ironic though to not grant their right to own land back then, because by being bankers instead, they technically own anything paid via loans whenever it be land, assets or resources. I guess that's where the idea that they own everything comes from, because well, when you buy something with a loan, the loaner is technically the owner of the purchase until it's paid off. Also when the loan is defaulted, the loaner can seize the assets purchased. It's a brilliant scam come to think of it. I mean if you want to gain ownership of everything and turn in some cash, give people outrageous loans with high interest rates so when the loan defaults, or the debtor goes insolvent, you'll gain that asset while making a profit. Continue this cycle while accumulating more real money and soon enough you'll own everything with immense wealth. Although there are two problems though, one, this tends to destroy the economy if done too quickly and therefore production and prosperity is lost; and two, it has a high risk of backfiring if you don't sustain the cycle or have cash flow to sustain current assets; because the maintenance costs of holding all those assets could eventually see you go bankrupt too if there's insufficient cash flow.

If you have a ruthless enemy, you must either be stupid, self-delusive or defeatist to say that you'd have a chance without a gun. Or a fanatic. But you're not a fanatic.

I know this is somewhat simplistic but why have some many people throughout the ages picked the Jews . Different.kept to themselves or just a scapegoat and easy
i think that is because they chose themselves as the chosen people in gods eyes when they wrote the bible.

god chose them. it's not their fault they are awesome in god's eyes. :P

Why would they choose someone else as god's chosen? Anyone who writes something like that would do so. All the people back then fought for a god. It was like their national flag. The Jews would go to battle with someone and their god would be put up against the other people's god/gods. If they won, it was because their god is the strongest or the only god. If they lost, it was because they were being punished. They wouldn't say they lost because their enemy's god/gods were stronger or theirs didn't exist.

Now it does because a lot of other people supposedly worship the same god. The largest monotheistic religions (Christianity, Islam and Judaism) all claim to be related to the god of Abraham. Back when it was normal to be the chosen people of your local deity, it probably did not make people that jealous. The other nations had their own gods that they thought were the one true god or more powerful than the god of Israel (or Abraham). It wasn't that uncommon back then to create a religion and make your local people the favorites of god.
If you live your life as to not make others jealous, you won't be striving to succeed really imo. People get jealous over bullshit. The god of Abraham is bullshit. I guess it is the fault of the rest of the world for getting jealous for not being chosen by bullshit. The "god's chosen" attitude of Jewish people is a different story, but it happens to a lot of religious people who think they are righteous for one reason or another. They think that they deserve to have the world handed to them on a silver platter, because god has blessed them for one reason or another. That attitude does offend and irritate people.

All depends on what is meant by 'Jews' though:
The biggest surprise during his research came when he started looking at the archaeological evidence from the biblical era.
“I was not raised as a ancient alien, but like all other Israelis I took it for granted that the Jews were a people living in Judea and that they were exiled by the Romans in 70AD.
“But once I started looking at the evidence, I discovered that the kingdoms of David and Solomon were legends.
“Similarly with the exile. In fact, you can’t explain Jewishness without exile. But when I started to look for history books describing the events of this exile, I couldn’t find any. Not one.
“That was because the Romans did not exile people. In fact, Jews in Palestine were overwhelming peasants and all the evidence suggests they stayed on their lands.”
Instead, he believes an alternative theory is more plausible: the exile was a myth promoted by early Christians to recruit Jews to the new faith. “Christians wanted later generations of Jews to believe that their ancestors had been exiled as a punishment from God.”
So, if there was no exile, how is it that so many Jews ended up scattered around the globe before the modern state of Israel began encouraging them to “return”?
Dr. Sand said that, in the centuries immediately preceding and following the Christian era, Judaism was a proselytising religion, desperate for converts. “This is mentioned in the Roman literature of the time.”
Jews travelled to other regions seeking converts, particularly in Yemen and among the Berber tribes of North Africa. Centuries later, the people of the Khazar kingdom in what is today south Russia, would convert en masse to Judaism, becoming the genesis of the Ashkenazi Jews of central and eastern Europe.
Dr. Sand pointed to the strange state of denial in which most Israelis live, noting that papers offered extensive coverage recently to the discovery of the capital of the Khazar kingdom next to the Caspian Sea.
Ynet, the website of Israel’s most popular newspaper, Yedioth Ahronoth, headlined the story: “Russian archaeologists find long-lost Jewish capital.” And yet none of the papers, he added, had considered the significance of this find to standard accounts of Jewish history.
One further question is prompted by Dr Sand’s account, as he himself notes: if most Jews never left the Holy Land, what became of them?
“It is not taught in Israeli schools but most of the early ancient alien leaders, including David Ben Gurion [Israel’s first prime minister], believed that the Palestinians were the descendants of the area’s original Jews. They believed the Jews had later converted to Islam.”
Dr. Sand attributed his colleagues’ reticence to engage with him to an implicit acknowledgement by many that the whole edifice of “Jewish history” taught at Israeli universities is built like a house of cards.

This was the big thing when I was in school. They weren't even students and would vandalize school property by plastering "Trust Jesus" and whatnot all over the lamp posts and benches. But they were Christian, and therefore it was okay. I used to get into arguments with these douchebags in the quad.
As far as Jews go...I personally don't have any issues as they tend to be far more tolerant and accepting over here. Probably being a minority and punching bag for so long. I do, however, have issues with Israel and expressing so gets me into a lot of trouble and I am called anti-Semitic, which is bullshit. Nothing against Jews, as they have a right to believe what they want and live their lives according to those beliefs, so long as they respect the same rights of others. But Israel is a ancient alien state built on bigotry. Fundamentally its existence is very questionable. Add in their tactics, including failure to comply with UN Resolution after UN Resolution, and the USA's constant turning of the other cheek in this regard, is disgusting. One of my favorite classes in college was "U.S. Policy and the Middle East" taught by an Iranian professor, who considered herself Atheist until the class threw their arms up in the air and she backed off to Agnostic. I went off on the rest of the class as a bunch of intolerant bigots. Anyway, dating back to even before Israel was created following WWII, the U.S. has done nothing but use and abuse the Middle East in a sandstorm of hypocrisy in the name of its own self interest (oil), while waving the flag of democracy, yet supporting non-democratic dictators and the like.

I agree strongly with that.
But my anger is mainly focused on the inherit bias and brainwashed double standards that people hold in favor for Israel (even America to a lesser extent) compared to other nations. I believe all nations should be freely subject to the same level of scrutiny when it comes to their history and policies, no exceptions. No nation should ever be above international law or immune to personal criticism.

The problem I have with the whole Jewish argument is that they claimed to have 'owned' the land they are on since the days of Abraham. Given that nobody can prove that ANY part of the bible is accurate and is not fiction, then this 'promise' is bullshit in the least. And the fact that they killed the leader whom John the Baptist described as their Messiah smacks of hypocrisy as well. Now most of the Jews themselves might be OK, but the government decisions since 1948 AND the attitude of people like Wiesanthal have left a lot to be desired. Chasing people for war crimes was ludicrous in the extreme, even if the Nazi holocaust could be proven. Did we persue the Japs and Germans over the loss of life during both WW1 & WW2? No. even though we hated them for it, we managed to move on and mend fences. Unfortunately the Jews seem incapable of this, and it's their leaders that are to blame. They denied their Messiah, who was Jewish, but their religion is based on most of his teachings, as well as those of John the Baptist and Moses alike. And what annoys me even more with the attitude of their LEADERS now, is that whne a small attack is made by Palestinians to prove their point, the isrelis tend to use so much overkill that it makes D-Day look like a schoolyard tiff.
Recognise them as people who have a right to live, but don't pander to their greed and their bullshit beliefs that they are owed for what happened in the past.
-
The Jews are something speshul, that's why all bad Nazis must be haunted even if they're 100 years old by now. They're not like the native Americans or Armenians, Gypsies, Lapplanders etc. They're speshul.

I should hate them more than most if that were the case living where I do but I find them no more abrasive than the other people around here. I have even dealt with some orthodox and Hasidic jews in the past without the problems others say they have with them. It's not to say I have never had any problems working for of dealing with Jews just no more than the general population. If you want problems try working for an Indian
