Scrap workers find $128,000 in safe
Fri Jan 30, 12:22 pm ET
BERLIN (Reuters) – Workers at a steel plant near Berlin found 100,000 euros ($128,500) in a safe that a bank had sent to be scrapped -- but they did the decent thing and gave it back.
An employee at Germany's Postbank had failed to take out the cash before sending the safe to the scrapyard. Spokesman Ralf Palm blamed "the carelessness of an employee when a branch office moved in December."
No way unless a lot of people saw it

This is a trick question right?
-
:zombiefuck:
-
I wouldn't be able to help myself. I would keep it.
-
I think it might be even worse than finding a fancy camera on the highway.
-
They have the sense for Redlichkeit in Germany. I, however, have not.
-
Almost a million kronor. I want that money! :P
-
Probably not.
-
No, not even if I needed it badly. I wouldn't be able to live with it.
-
Fuck that dude. I'd take that shit and invest every penny in shamwow. Hahaha!
-
My safe is waiting for it

The Swedes were known for their honesty before. They said that if you lost your wallet on a street in Stockholm in 1950, you could be as good as 100% sure to get it back.
-
I am pretty honest and have returned my share of money and wallets but this was sold as scrap if it weighted 100 lbs less than they said would they give you the difference don't think so
-
Agreed. And the money belonged to a fucking bank, not to private citizens.
-
And they sold it fair and square
-
If I were to find a wallet with money in it, I wouldn't take the money and I would hand it in to the police because it belongs to someone. GA found a wallet yesterday (with no money in it), he will hand it in today.
I keep any loose money I find. A few months ago I found ten dollars. :) Bank money I would keep that.
-
If I found the prime minister's or the king's wallet I wouldn't turn it in to the cops.
-
Small chance of that. :P
-
I don't live in Stockholm. :-\
Though if I find some other rich bastard's wallet it'd be good as well, though I wonder if they really have cash in them nowadays.
-
I've repeatedly learned that being honest just gets me fucked over. Unfortunately, my natural inclination is to be honest, so I could go either way with the money.

He still owes me £70, the fat emo.

I have gotten that too. Find a wallet with no money in it return it they say you stole the money :-\

Eh, I fucked over Koslit's honesty over his underaged fetish. :zoinks:

How come?
-
I might give it back. It would depend on which bank it came from. In this case I would have given it back because I have nothing against that bank.
If it was a bank like Compass or Bank of America where I have had shitty customer service before. Then fuck it, I'd keep it.
-
I'd love to fuck Nordea up the arse.
-

I would turn it into the local newspaper - makes more money that way.
-
And it comes to mind: the law says that I have the right to 10% of what's in the wallet. :eyebrows:
-
Could have just as easily taken some of that money and give the rest back fearing that one day someone will remember about the money and come back for it only to find nothing. Thus, in order to stay on the safe side and still benefit from it. Taking some of the money is the natural thing to do.
-
The bank probably has a record of how much was in the safe, and as soon as they're alerted to it being missing, they'd investigate it and discover any that was skimmed off the top.
-
They wouldn't find evidence once the safe was molten down.
-

that was my thought I'd give them oh I forgot to check inside

Yeah, I know - I was referring to Agon's comment about giving back only some of it.
