Post by: WolFish on November 27, 2008, 12:54:04 PM
i don't really hate holidayS but itS fun to pretend.
thiS iS the firSt thankSgiving in about 12 yearS that i have not worked. it uSed to be my way of avoiding going home for the holidayS. but thiS year my SiSter juSt got out of the hoSpital, my couSin iS ill, i am Sick and moving, and my family iS in a State of upSet. they are not doing thankSgiving thiS year.

i actually like holidayS becauSe i can make a lot of money working when no one elSe wantS to. otherwiSe they don't make much of a difference unleSS there iS Special food. So i celebrate canadian and uS thankSgiving by eating turkey and drinking eggnog. Same for chriStmaS, SolStice, kwanzaa and eaSter.

So letS hear it for turkey dayS, eggnog dayS and peepS day!

I had to use my money to pay for gas so I can drive all the way to Montana for Thanksgiving. I should have stayed in Oregon and do Thanksgiving over there and the cost of gas would have been a hell lot cheaper. But no I had to go to Montana so I can see Spokane again and that was my excuse for the long drive.

I actually don't mind Thanksgiving because I love the food and pies are my favorite and the stuffing. Hey, I got to see my parents again and Spokane. I even got to see my brothers again. The whole family is back together till Saturday.

Thanksgiving is old for us Canuckle heads. We had our back in October.
It makes me sick that Christmas stuff hits the stores before halloween.

Christmas decorations should go up NO EARLIER than dec 1st, whether in the home or shopping strips or centres. :grrr:

My family always put up Christmas stuff, including the fake tree, right after Thanksgiving. That's what I do too but this year I didn't because I was in Montana, so I did it today. Now to wait for my boyfriend to get up, he might want to decorate the tree too. I decorated the other one I put in the bedroom.

I have two Christmas trees, fake ones. I had them both up in my house in 2006, one in the living room and one in the dining room which was my computer room. Then last year I only had one up. This year, I decided to put one in the bedroom since I had room.

We have only one thank god.  The only good things about it are the smell and I enjoy eating the needles

 :asthing: Well, the thing that ticks me off most is when the shops start playing sappy christmas carols as early as September. Now, it wouldn't be so bad if they played something funny like "I Farted on Santa's Lap" or "Who Put The Dick on the Snowman" or "The Twelve Pains of Christmas" or even "Christmas at Ground Zero" but nooo, they have to play nauseatingly twee renditions (or destructions) of old favourites.

Trying to dodge all the little kids or pushy shoppers who come up on my blind side (literally as I have no sight at all in my right eye) is another thing that bothers me about the festive season. Now, if only we could persuade more people to celebrate winter solstice....

My mother-in-law has failing kidneys, my sister-in-law is overstressed and bitchy, ditto my wife, plus my wife's beloved cat broke his foot last night.

Don't have a lot to celebrate, but will do with what I can.
