Perhaps there are sound ecological reasons for it?  Deer culling is essential here, since with no natural predators left, their population will explode and they'll damage the land through overgrazing if they're not controlled.  More likely it's to win votes from people with livestock, who've been brought up to think of wolves as pests, since killing apex predators usually has a detrimental effect on an ecology, but the emotive angle of the video was uninformative as to the real issues.
