Why did they make  an animated movie?  Was it just for the money or are they really going to do something with this?

I saw that and thought exactly the same thing. Why?

I haven't watched it, but it is about the time period between the 3rd movie and the 4th (New Hope).   The Clone Wars were covered in a miniseries on Cartoon Network and this is about that time period as well.   I probably won't watch it as it is designed with kids in mind.  I really didn't like the latest trilogy of Star Wars flicks and the originals are more about nostalgia value from my childhood.

Who can fathom the aimless meanderings of George Lucas. I am sad that he is no longer thought so highly of among the fans - but it is largely his fault. I wish he would apply himself to fresh material without raking over what remains of his previous successes.

Money. What else is there?

Trouble is, Lucas has not been money orientated. He ploughs most of the money back into the business rather than into his own pockets. I think Lucas is surrounded by yes men. Anybody who speaks out of turn or loses favour is 'banned from the ranch'. There is a special effects group called 'Banned From The Ranch Entertainment'... but I understand they got the boot from ILM because they played a prank that didn't go down too well during a party... or something like that. They worked on 'Hollow Man', 'Starship Troopers', 'Twister', 'The Relic' and the suchlike. (Yes, I did have to look up their Filmography... http://www.imdb.com/company/co0021673/

He should have someone say no to him, then. Regularly. Daily, preferably.

Are you talking about that horrible ad that has been going around lately? I can't figure out if it's a film, a game or just a first year multimedia student's foray into the wonderful world of 3d animation packages.

That's the one. I'm sure he'll do at least one trilogy.
