Interesting facts of the day:  Seals are legally fish in Canada, and thus aren't screened for any of the dangerous diseases like rabies, trichinellosis, mycoplasma and brucellosis that they're known to be commonly infected with before being sent to market as human-edible meat and oil.

Also, Atlantic cod on the Scotian Shelf are starving due to a catastrophic collapse of the ecosystem in which even zooplankton, barnacles and seaweed are dying.
