Security
« on: July 11, 2008, 10:52:50 AM »
I recently went to a concert one of the Indian casinos in my state.  I had never been to a casino and had not been to a concert in some time as I hate crowds.  Well I never saw so much security they had so many people and  cameras   it was incredible.  I was frisked felt like I had to take a shower after :finger:.   Is it this way everywhere now?

I doubt it, but it is fairly well established in the USA.

I have been to a number of big-crowd events since 9/11 and it is common to have to submit to a personal search and/or shake-down by metal detection wands.

That's why the lines to get into the venue fuck up traffic so badly, these days.

Yep. It's a police state. The world pretty much is.

You're complaining about getting a free touch-up?

Though I'm sure the cost of security was worked into the ticket price.

The night clubs in Glasgow all have bouncers that frisk people for knives and drugs.  My old student union had a rather large wooden box that seized drugs were deposited in, and the contents were handed to the police once a month.

Coincidently on the same day of the month that the police held their wild parties.....hmmmmm

Fuck!

I guess it IS becoming universal.

Who do we blame more, the fundamentalist nuthatch escapees who want to do us harm through terroristic acts of unwanton, non-specific violence or the lame-assed, self serving dictator wannabes who are charged with the security of our individual home lands.

Right now, I am mostly blaming the nuthatch itself. I just have no idea of how to close it down without using similar tactics that the escapees inflict upon the theoretically free peoples of the world.

After the contents were sifted through by the "friends"  of those bouncer types, of course.

(a full fourth of my blade collection was gleaned from this same type of box, in the old days. I have some nice pieces that came to me freely, or as a payment for helping them in a fight to get out the worst elements who came to the bars I worked in. It is quite easy for someone like me to take out a known troublemaker when someone else, with authority, has them distracted.)

Good fucking question.

Right now, I am mostly blaming the nuthatch itself. I just have no idea of how to close it down without using similar tactics that the escapees inflict upon the theoretically free peoples of the world.

I see some blame on both sides. They seem to take offense at our very existence, but we do rather like to flaunt it in their faces. What might have started as desperation is badly ingrown and romanticized. If only we ignored them and let them go their own way, it would probably calm down, but the damn oil calls us back. It almost makes me glad it's finite.

Aside from getting our collective heads out of our asses about energy sources, I'd say more checks on the systems that operate by an eye for an eye. All that supposed power we have, and we still find it necessary to torture and to detain the potentially innocent without recourse?

Near as I can figure, it's like the bull, it's like Cal, on a massive, massive scale. And I'm always looking to understand and overturn and refine my view of the fractal.
