True. But is it really stimulating anything to give it to people, then? If the government spent it on extra binders for clerks or something, I don't see how that would be different for the economy than TV's.

Probably. I have a feeling it has to do with people maybe feeling its like free money, so they view it differently and are more likely to spend it rather than save it and view it as their hard earned cash when in reality it kinda is, cos that money came from taxes etc...

Sometimes stupid shit like that actually has some smarts behind it.
