I once broke a mirror, walked under a ladder, and passed by some black cats on the 13th floor.

Here's some words for you to see if you can figure out how to pronounce:

Triskaidekaphobia means "fear of the number 13"

hexakosioihexekontahexaphobia means "fear of the number 666"
Autism Speaks would like to remind you that you don't exist, because there are no Autistic adults and autistic children are too braindead to be able to use a computer.

It's a fucking number, people going out of their way to avoid having any kind of association with this number are just as pathetic as those who cancel their hotel reservations if they're on the 13th floor.

I am a little weird about the number 666, it's one of a few quirks I have. It doesn't make me pathetic.  :zoinks:

Ok, aside from those with Autistic or OCD associations to certain numbers, like people that need to always have 6 of everything, that's one thing.  It's the whole superstition thing that I've never been able to understand, I've always been of the mindset of that anything that doesn't have a direct cause is completely random.  If you run a random number generator on 1 to 1000, you have just as much of a chance of getting the number 666 as you do 13, or any other number between 1 and 1000.  You even run the chance of getting 666 666 times in a row, when things are absolutely random, there's always a chance.

I dislike the superstitions I have, but a religious upbringing (plus media exposure to fundamentalism, with all its tales of terror, such as near-death experiences in which people supposedly visited hell and were only saved by prayer) can put fear into any impressionable mind. I'm less bothered by it than I once was, but 666 is still, for me, an number with unpleasant associations.  :violin:

It's where the airconditioners live. Arguably not a solution from a superstitious point of view. Out of sight, out of mind?

I know how to pronounce triskaidekaphobia because my daughter tells everyone she has it but she's not superstitious at all.

My wife went out of her way to get a licence plate that had 666 on it. Plus we live at number 13 of our street.

Since you are already there,  I say, go ahead and find a mirror or two and smash them, follow every black cat you see and cross their trails, turn left onto every thirteenth street you see, go to the thirteenth floor in every office building you see and piss in the southwestern corner, kill a chicken without removing its heart first, walk back and forth under every ladder you see to the lyric "Up, Up, And Away In My Beautiful Balloon"  and look deeply into the eye of a blond child without touching their heads  and just get the whole lot of shit over with at once.

Otherwise, your death will only be prolonged ...   ...   ...   ...

Oh I do enjoy poking fate like that with a very large stick. Mainly because I know it's all superstitious magic thinking. That seems to fuck with people heads in a way that entertains me.
