yeah, there is that.  and if they're really old and gorgeous, there's always a heritage or Grade II listing put on them, so you can't do anything to modernise it, like double glazing and stuff.  in one way, i'm glad, but i wouldn't want to live there in the winter.

I like old houses it's the new one I don't.  I don't know a lot about heritage or Grade II listing but we have historical districts here that have lots of regulations.  There are companies that specialize in these homes and make replacement windows custom double glazed with old glass on the outer panes that look identical from the outside

Mine is 68 years old but we did a total remodel a few years ago.  Houses are a lot of work no matter how old they are

mine's about 130 years old, and it's very little work, to be honest.  oh, i could tinker with it all year, if i were that way inclined, but it doesn't need a lot of maintenace.

I hate yard work but maintenance on a house I find very relaxing.  Then again that's what I do for work.

It's not. New houses cost a lot less to heat. They don't have reoccurring problems with plumbing. Etc.
