School!?

How did they manage to afford that, most of the science equipment in my old physics dept dates back to the 50's...

I have no idea how they got them.  It's a science based magnet school not the easiest to get into but it is part of the local public system as a cooperative between several towns meaning we don't pay extra :green:  He gets college credit for some of the classes when he in a jr and senior

I didn't get those to play with in collage.  The school has several large corporate partners including Sikorsky Aircraft which is just a town away

Sure beats my old physics classroom.  I was at school one day back in the '80s, when it was pouring down rain outside.  When I showed up for physics class, it was pouring down rain inside.  My physics teacher was about to have a stroke, rushing to save equipment.  You could watch the ceiling tiles disintegrate and fall as they became saturated with rainwater.  All because a notorious southern state didn't see education as worth fucking investing in.  As a result, the roof went a long time without repair, and then that happened.

That's cool that he will be exposed to them in high school, Parts.  My college had mass spectrometers, although my high school did not.

I wondered if you might have been when you said that it was three miles long, because I thought the longest linear particle accelerator in the world was SLAC and it's only two miles long.

Or 1m in diameter, just that the particles go around a few times? :P
