My university are cutting Means Tested grants to pay for performance scholarships, the catch being that by and large, they are only accessible to rich kids.Disgusting. Get a job and stop complaining. Pay your debts like every other cunt. This doesn't directly effect me. Just expressing my disgust at how they are giving loads of money to kids who are already obscenely rich.Btw in the UK the idea is that you don't get into silly amounts of debt just to get a college degree, unlike your place.

No, it's just that in the UK unless you are smart, you end up in Brixton. I see you haven't shown anything in the way of university intelligence around here, so I gather you are hanging around waiting for the bovver boys to attack some poor old geezer.

Sorry, how come I am (a) doing a top degree in a top mediocre university, despite (b) going to a bog standard comprehensive. You have no argument here.

I, however, am classically educated despite going to a shit-hole comprehensive.
Kosmo, you ARE a shithole comprehensive with no education. Here we give grants to Uni students and TAFE students. Then they pay their debts through taxation. Easy, when you know how. But as everyone else is fucked, obviously our system works best.
Kosmo,

Seems to work.It makes sense for an ask anything thread to be locked by its author, I guess, but WTF gives GA ownership of this game and conversation just because he started it?That is my WTF moment for the day.IMO, that option should be taken away from the members cos it actually works against freedom of speech.I vaguely remember a bit of talk (not in just one thread, though) about removing that option, but the discussion seemed to bog down because of the "Ask Away" and "Forum for [...problems...] " threads. Is there no way to remove the option from the rest of the forum and keep it in effect for the personal threads, without causing problems?

There is no middle ground.

didn't we have a discussion about the ability to lock threads in the elder's forum, a while back? i can't remember the outcome, but then that was about the time the "vote to fart" spree of cal's was going on. i say keep it as it is - if people lock threads, it means others will just start another one, and it shows the thread-locker up for the dummy-spitter-outer they are. plenty of scope for piss-ripping then.
oh the drama never a shortage of that around here
