Curbside shopping, anyone else?
« on: April 23, 2008, 07:23:55 AM »
Haven't been much this month, but it seems everyone is in the spring cleaning mode. All the better for us trash trolling hippies. :green:

The score this month:

2 mowers, (I already cut my grass with one, they were even kind enough to leave it with a full tank of gas.)
1 gas weedeater
Sony VCR
2 lawn chairs

They start curbside spring cleaning here in May I can't wait.  I have got too many things to list them all last year. I got several new lawn mowers last year before picking the one I wanted and scrapping the rest,  TVs, computers, all kinds of stuff including things I have sold at the flea market.  Everything in this photo I got the last one in September October last year

I have gotten manual push mowers before I'd send you one but I can't get it in the USB port :P

I've got about 5 sitting in my garage, come on over you can have your choice of colors.  :green:

Neighbor spotted one out last night 3 houses away and nabbed it, self-propelled, started right up. They've been borrowing mine for the last year or so, too "embarrassed" to pick anything up, they're learning, slowly.

Parts, NICE haul!!!

Is that the same as curbside dining?

My wife used to do that, she'd drive around and pick things up and then eBay them. Made a bit of money that way.

purple?

i wish - sadly, the cost of the flight, and the environmental damage, means i'd be better off actually buying a new one.

My wife and I sell at the local flea market and do very well with the curbside and estate sale stuff

Well that's it, if you have an eye for what will sell, you can quite often make a tidy little profit in the few thousands range in enough time.

It's coming up on that time year when every weekend will have a tag sale somewhere.  And after the tag sale ends, the stuff will either sit on the curb with "Free" sign or get taken to the dump store or foisted on a thrift shop that can't sell yard sale rejects.

Either way, I expect my scavenging will reap some nice little objects to work with in my craft hobby!   8)

I'm always checking the side of the road.

And, I check the free section of craigslist constantly.

I've gotten:
2 lawnmowers
1 string trimmer
1 leaf blower
1 hose keeper
4 tiki torches
and, we went dumpster diving behind Home Despot the other day and scored a ton of free plants.  Even one tomato plant they were throwing away that had three tomatoes on it!  It's in our garden now with several more fruits.
I came to this world with nothing
and I leave with nothing but love,
everything else is just borrowed.

Fuck it, we'll do it live.

We used to dive this really cool dumpster in front of a wooden play equipment company.  We got a lot of redwood and nuts and bolts, a ladder and other cool things too.

We built a play fort for our daughter mostly from the scraps we rescued from the dumpster.

They stopped throwing away good stuff like that, though.
