Snot.

I got a nasty cold last week, and some of it still lingers even though it's been more than a week now.  Been to the doctor, got some meds, and all that, but still got a scratchy throat and still finishing off the prescription.

So, does anyone here know what's going on when you blow your nose sometimes and the snot is clear, but other times it's egg-yolk yellow?

i had snot all my childhood. it was allergies. it varied in color. my friends thought it was gross. :zombiefuck:

Clear is usually at the start or end of a cold.

Yellow means it's in the middle of fighting off the infection, usually seen mid cold, and it gets thicker and greener/yellower as the cold progresses.

I think you're probably having back to back colds. I get those sometimes.

Yeah, color usually indicates something nasty in it.
Either infection (gods, I love the day glow green),
or just crap you're breathing.

I know that colds can last longer than a week, it is not uncommon. They are particularly nasty when they are the sort you describe.

You may find your snot is yellow when you wake up in the morning but becomes clear during the day. That is because the snot has been sitting in your sinuses all night, getting thicker and turns yellow. When it is clear and you are blowing your nose a lot, that is because your sinuses are making the snot fresh because they are reacting to the virus irritation and trying to wash it away.

When you have green snot during a cold, that is a pretty bad infection in the sinuses.

Describing this has made me laugh a bit.  :laugh:
