Feeling pretty damn good, right now.
I have been in the garden preparing for spring planting. Got a few callouses and blisters, sore muscles, dirty nails and torn pants.
It just does not get much better than this.
Are you going to have a vegetable garden?
Yes. I generally do. I mostly grow greens (shard, spinach, kale, broccoli, lettuce varieties) and roots (carrots, beets, turnips, radishes), a few herbs (cilantro, rosemary, thyme, lavender, basil and lemon grass) and some beans (lima, green Blue lake, giant fava and long string), tomatoes (usually just a couple of modern hybrids, an heirloom and a couple of late bred grape/clumping style miniatures) and peppers (only some hot bonnets, hot and mild jalapeno, super sweet tiny bells, a few yellow Hungarian, Italian pepperoncinis, Mexican chile de arbol, and large California bitter/sweet bells).
I do not have enough room to grow a proper garden, but I do my best with what sun hits my soil. If I had more room I would also grow asparagus, corn, barley and considerably more fruit trees than the two peach and one apple and three pears I already have. I would also enjoy to have some nut trees, but they take even more room and you can not generally grow other fruits near nut trees. They (most especially those of the Juglans genus) protect their growing space by exuding toxic chemicals (true!).
I also have to have some sun for a pool in my backyard to keep myself and the kids happy during the summer, but that would be a much longer post.
