^ I'm sorry to hear that Zegh.
I'm sort of all over the place. Things with the ex keep causing me to get lost inside my head out of self preservation and now I'm back in my hometown because Gram's hip is broken again. The pin popped out when the nurses were moving her and it's not looking good. She's on 10mg of Morphine every 3 hours and it's still not taking her pain level down. She's been in immense pain, sitting there with a shattered hip for a week now and still has no surgery date booked. So I'm back in a hotel for a week to do hospital duty. My Aunt said she's been asking for me. She wants me to sing to her and I seem to be the only one who can calm her these days. Poor thing can't use a phone by herself, has been in bed for 2 weeks and we're trying to get the hospital to supply a special type of air mattress to prevent bed sores. I hate this for her.
Bug the staff to death if you need to for them to supply your Gram with the special mattress to prevent bed sores, CelticGoddess.
I'm much younger and more mobile than your Gram, but guess what I found on my right heel this morning?
I found the beginning of a pressure sore where my heel has been pressing against the splint or the boot.
To prevent a pressure sore, turn your Gram or make sure she is turned at least every two hours and look carefully at the parts of her that have been compressed against the mattress.
The beginning of a pressure sore is a bright red spot (or purplish spot depending on her skin color) that doesn't blanch when you press on it. It's also usually painful, but not always.
