But really, if someone wants to ignore someone because they annoy them or make their blood boil or whatever, why do you have to turn that around and make it a negative thing about that person by refering to it as "wanting to stick their head in the sand"?
Well, in the case of site related issues, it means not ever being able to understand
the full context of issues. In other cases, it might well mean hiding from attacks on
themselves, and not realizing how idiotic they are coming off.
Seems to be that you want to be able to harp on and on about something to someone without them being able to not hear you. You want to be able to trap them into your dialogue. Or you want them to be answerable to made up accusations from your detective work or that of like minded people. It's no secret that you value chaos, but that doesnt mean you get to ram it down the throats of others. I'm sure that there are a few people that treat this place and perhaps a few others as their only social outlet. If you want a handful of arseholes to be able to ruin that for someone because you think they should be made to listen to something that could be really stressing them out, good for you. How does that make you feel? Not too bad I suppose.
As I've noted, one already need not read posts.
But, at least you can go back and see, if there is
something interesting which is referred to, if they're
not turned off - you aren't limited to half the story.
Personally, I would hate to be being attacked, WITHOUT
being able to respond; incidentally why I told Steve K that
he was coming under fire here, and should stop by to defend
himself. Bad TOM, in that case - he flipped out about being
told.
You are equating having a voice which everyone CAN read,
to forcing people to read them.
Funny how that things that annoy you are more important that things that annoy others that you dont happen to agree or care about.
Nothing funny about it. Pretty much human nature, I think.
Now, the question of whether free speech is annoying are
not is an issue worth addressing. Hiding, and sniping it away
piece by piece, without even realizing that is what is being done
is something else entirely. Be aware of what you are destroying.
I dont see how having an ignore mod is destroying free speech. And do I
have to point out how that is just insane?
The thing is, if its human nature to care about only about those things which annoy on themselves, why am I suggesting an ignore mod if I will never use it personally? Is that because I'm caring about a problem that might annoy others? How does that fit?
And so what if someone is hiding from attacks and looking idiotic? Why are YOU concerned about someone looking idiotic? If that were true, you'd stop posting about the evil plans of others when you see a vague pattern of behaviour.
I think if someone used an ignore mod, they would be fully aware that they wouldnt be getting the whole story, or maybe that the person that they are ignoring isnt really contributing anything to the story in the first place, in their opinion of course.
