Kids/hospitals/walls

Did you go to the hospital a lot as a kid?

And, if you did (or even if you didn't), what did you think of the walls?

I had to go quite a few times when I was little, and although the children's ward and surrounding area was painted nicely (bright colours, pictures on the wall etc), the area I was mainly visiting (not just for kids) was dull as fuck. And I really hated it. I think this is related to AS to an extent (from what I've been told), but I get a really bad thing from certain places, especially places decorated or built in the 70s (I don't like the 70s. Sorry if you were born in the 70s; I probably do still like you). And this place I went to in the hospital was horrible. And I swear it's screwed me up.

Do you know what I'm on about?
I haven't fully explained myself but I've given up. Do you know what I mean? And, if not, do you have anything interesting to add about hospitals and the way they are decorated? I know they smell bad, but I guess that's because they're (supposed to be) clean. I don't like hospitals. All the dirty people. I'd be scared of getting MRSA if I went in one now. It's nice to be naive when you're little and not watch the news.

My local hospital is a shithole.

So was one in Poland but at least I had fun there because it was overfilled and there were too many kids in one room.  We used to sneak about the dark corridors and try not to let the nurses catch us   Then everyone was slowly discharged and I had to stay in the huge room by myself.

I like the idea of sealing children up in the walls of hospitals.  :zoinks:

I spent some time as a kid in one, but I spent much more time in a children's hospital when I was an adult.

Which hospitals here have you been in?
I can only think of three: Trafford General, Hope and St Mary's

I was born in Trafford General :zoinks:
It was the first NHS hospital to open in England and Wales
We are cool, here in Trafford

When I was a kid I never stayed overnight in the hospital but spent my share of time in them.  My mother was the admitting clerk at the local one and I also got hurt a lot when I was young.  This was in the 70's  I remember light green everywhere on cement block walls and the smell of disinfectant :eh:

I think they should decorate the whole hospital like the kids ward because that would cheer everyone up. Adults are important too.
If I had lots of money, I would get decorators to go into hospitals and cheer the whole place up with paintings/murals and decorations and other stuff for adults to do. I have written this before, sorry.

When I had my appendix out, I was put in the kids ward even though I was 23 because they thought I was a teenager still. Then when I went back a week later with the start of peritonitis, that put me in the adult ward and that was drab and nasty. Even though I was quite sick, I wanted to leave so much.

I spent a lot of time in them when I was a kid, sickly, anemic, don't remember too much about the walls.  Things seemed to be better with cheerier colors as well as restful tones in the hallways, that is when I entered the nursing profession.

When I was eight and in the psych ward there were elehpans and seals on the walls............and rainbows! i have laways been scared of rainbows
i was with other kids but I was a kid too

The most decent hospital visit was when I had an appendices attack.
I got my own room. My mom bought me a Game Boy Advance. it sucked cause a Chinese guy touched my vagina
and I didn't even have to have my appndix out! YAY! cause the doctor said it went away with that iv thing they gave me and I got a Gameboy maaaaaan
A FUCKING GAME BOY.  all cause my mom felt sooooo bad for me. the whole night sucked ass  but I got a gameboy and games out of it!
and I was only 13! no crappy childrens ward.

I hate being around lots of little children my mom works at daycare and that daycare used to be the old folks home and it still has hospital smell!
and poo smell cuase poo there pants there all day. Theres a place called the "rainbow Room" there and it smells like crackers and cheese and farts.
