i was advised during parent teacher conferences to research PDD-NOS, for my daughter and as i began to analyze the facts the whole AS/HFA criteria was like a huge mind fuck.
it seemed like my entire life finally had answers.? As a child 30 years ago i was diagnosed as being hyperactive and was put on coffee first, then dexadrine and finally ritalin.? my daughter definately has hyperactivity as well.? but did you know that in order to get a prescription for hyperactivity that you have to go to a professional shrink??
so we took her to a shrink and i was the one to do it (due to reservations about medicating my child). i was interested in analyzing the analyst.? to see if he was nothing more than a glorified drug pusher.? i found that i believed he was.
however, after visiting several doctors who all advised the same thing, we gave in and decided to give her the medication on weekdays during the school year only.?
finally i began to ask the doctor questions about Asperger's during these sessions and he admitted not being well versed on the subject but gave us a referral.? the referral diagnosed my daughter and i also set up an appt.? with a different referral, which specialized in adults.

that's why i am here, to ensure that advocasy happens.? dispite others opinions, i do know my limitations.? and i am sticking around to give several talented, capable people a kick in the ass, to ensure the movement.
