its a bitch to become one, you used to have to be sponsered in but its open to the public now.  you have to serve 3-58 years as a casual where you don't get much work or have any of the benefits, but people go to college for the samew amount of time.

just have to wait til there are openings for casual status then apply.  hope the lottery system picks you high,
i was number 81 drawn out of a pool of 15000.
the last pool they intend on working 15000 through the process out of half a million applicants.

it still helps to know someone in the industry, i worked as an office gopher for maersk, the largest steamship line in the world.
it was my college job.  the VP gave me an application.  just stupid dumb luck.

but, i am not fullfilling my reasons for being alive, being a longshoreman.
its a means to an end.

i simply do not get the concept of limiting people, or their abilities.
the pc people are the voice of our oppressors (big business, government, etc) limiting us, taking away our ability to think for ourselves, our sencse of entitlement.
