I agree. Intensity has been really sucking lately.

I think we need some more intelligent conversation here, and I DON'T mean more arguments. Expressing opinions, maybe some debating, yes. But arguing over stupid shit and being nasty to each other all the time has gotten very old.

Arguing and shit-stirring has always been an important element in what makes this site Intensity. If you want intelligent debates, go to a forum where they specialise in political and philosophical discussions without any drama. Some of the members here -- like myself -- aren't interested in politics or what's going on in today's world. I'm here to express myself, even if I happen to come across as a belligerent dickhead lacking in insight and substance.

IntensitySquared shouldn't be about saving face, in my opinion.

The way I see it is that you're only going to feel down if you allow others to impose their standards of living onto you. This works if you have low self-esteem and are lenient when it comes to criticism.

i was never bullied physically, but it was an all girls school, and they had really nasty little ways of bullying.  i remember a couple of instances vividly: during Housecraft (it was a long time ago...), we had to take it in turns to do various tasks.  when it was my week for drying up, they soaked my tea towel in the sink, so it took me an hour to finish.  doesn't sound like much, but when it's dark early, and you're on your own in a dodgy area of the city...  another time, they put snow in my school bag.  we had to use fountain (ink) pens in those days, and so you can imagine the state of all my exercise books.

that sort of subtle bullying is just as bad, i think - it works on a psychological level instead of the physical (although i think physical works on the psychological level as well).

I agree with you.  Girls can be much, much nastier at psychological bullying than boys - just pure passive-aggressive trash.  Girls never bullied me much, nor did I let them bully other people around me.

I have to agree, the past crap may color my life, but, I have worked hard at it NOT dictating my life.  However, thats not to say everybody can do that either.  For some it's a really long hard road to achieve that.

In fact I am quite positive my AS has been instrumental in my ability to do that.  Given time and my inate stubborness and ideals that there HAD to be something better out there.  I was able to compartmentalize the "crap" out of my way.  I was never much one to stay down, when I was pushed down, I think I "surprised" many people by the fact that I kept getting up and not giving up.  Thats how I see my past life.  Poor disabled aspie that I am!

I was physically and verbally bullied in school starting in first grade when I rode the school bus.  Our bus had both elementary school kids and high schoolers, who were teenagers.  Some of them were bullies who bullied the little kids.

I fought back starting in sixth grade, and also in high school.  My problem was that I try to ignore it as long as I can until it gets too bad, then I finally get pissed off and fight back, which totally shocks the bullies.

it's hard to fight back when the bullying isn't physical.  i never thought about fighting back, anyway.

I get pissed, tried to beat up someone taller and fatter than me.  I lost,  I resorted to throwing shoes at him, and mom dragged me away.  I just wouldn't give up.  After that, I said, no more.  I try and avoid that kind of stuff now, especially now, will all the exercising.

It took me ten years. This was the first year at the gymnasium.
