:)

I also wear alot of black, and have a cat who sheds like crazy and likes to get in my lap any time I sit down.  (This one's a pale orange tabby, and that hair really stands out on the black.)  When I vacuum my apartment once a week, the container ends up half full of cat hair.

I always have to have at least some black (jeans, socks, shoes).  I decided not to wear black shirts exclusively.  (Co-workers might not understand.)  But, there's always a black t-shirt under whatever shirt I have on the outside.  I've even started dying the black clothes when they start to fade.

Gotta brush teeth, shower, wash hair, and shave at least once a day.  The thought of missing a day on that is just nasty.  Though an electric shaver on my face isn't my favorite sensation, day-old whiskers are even worse.  After that, the shaver goes back on its self-cleaning station (one of those Braun models), and I sometimes splash witch hazel on my face.  Like the shaver, the toothbrush is state-of-the-art, a Sonicare ultrasonic toothbrush.  I don't like the sensation of the bristles on a regular toothbrush upon my teeth.  The vibrations of an electric toothbrush cancel that out.  Then, the head of the toothbrush gets soaked in antibacterial denture cleaner, as does the extra brush for scraping slimy crud off my tongue.  Finally, I floss my teeth.  That's definitely an OCD-induced routine, but it works.  Better to err on the side of clean, than to go around all smelly and nasty and make people think you're weird in a bad way.

This just made me think of a few weeks ago when, several mornings in a row, I'd find roach crap on the toothbrush charger.  I finally got the bug spray and killed that motherfucker, so no more roach crap.

Cats shit outside or in a toilet

Birds can shit on your head

A cat will never shit on your head

Never trained a cat to shit on a toilet.
And litterboxes reek.

Outside cats are fine.

Never had a pet bird (even the ones
we let loose all the time) shit on my
head. The conyer would shit on my
shoulder, but only because I let her
stand there.

As for the reek of the litterbox...  I've got a HEPA air purifier set up near the litterbox, plugged into a wireless remote thing so I can turn it on when I hear the cat scratching around in the box.

Thing is, I don't really trust what cat owners
say about the stench of their solutions. I've
been to many a places where the owner says,
"oh it doesn't smell if you clean it often enough"
and these people's houses ALWAYS stink of kitty
litter.

Like my pipe, they are probably inured to the
smell. I smell/taste gas stoves too - even the
'odorless' ones. Not everyone has the same
senses.

Birds have a stink too (not the shit), but it's
kinda a musty one. I could see being bothered
by it.

But if you're used to the smell, it doesn't matter then

sure. I don't enjoy it enough to get used to
it.

Kinda like vomit.

Plus, one DOES have guests, sometimes.

Shower once a day, brush teeth twice a day, wash hair twice a week. Deodorant a necessity!

I cut my hair short so I don't have to bother with it so much but it always looks messy no matter what I do. It goes fluffy in humid weather. No matter what haircut I have had, I am never happy with what it does. Except when I had it chemically staightened. That was nice for a while. It is all one length now, I grew the fringe out. When I was depressed I didn't wash my hair for a month. It didn't make that much difference to it, I was surprised.

I don't wear girly clothes. No skirts or dresses.

I wear concealer on my face and I also used to use eyeliner but I don't now because my glasses are too dark to bother. I also use lip balm a lot.

When I go out I always put my watch and MedicAlert bracelet on, as well as a hair tie around my wrist. And I always carry clean tissues in my pocket. I have done that since I was a kid.

But you're not around vomit 24/7?
If I vomited whenever I was around my cat, I'd get used to the smell.

And when I live on my own, I won't be having any guests round except family I guess.

Because I don't LIKE smelling vomit.

I'd get rid of the cat.

But there's nothing good about vomit
If a cat smells bad, the fact that the cat is awesome overrides that
What's good about vomit in the same way that there are good things about cats?
There's no reason to want to be around vomit all the time
