I think they are better than some medications though. Dexamphetamine tablets are horrible. And I have had some antibiotics long ago that smelled like they were dipped in cat pee before they put them in the packet.

All the antibiotic pills I've had smelled aweful.  Excedrin smells bad too.

One of the ingredients in Depakote pills is vanillin, which is why it smells like vanilla.  I wonder why   Do they think you'll be more likely to take them if they smell good?

I do wonder why some pills taste awful and others taste nice. I have had sodium valproate (Epilim) before and they didn't taste like anything but they are also anticonvulsants. But they were a nice purple colour.

I think the company that makes them decides whether medications should have flavours added.

Some medications are flavoured so that children will take them more readily.

lol I have been taking lamictal for bipolar for the last two years or so.   As a med it has helped more than depakote did.   It does taste ashy and nasty when it disolves in your mouth.   That is why I usually use water to swallow my pills.   That way it gets into my stomach asap and doesn't sit on my tongue.
