Yeah but we get so burned on the price, we are paying around $100 USD more for the Wii than those in the U.S.

And then we get stung with no S-Video Support on the PAL version. So I'm stuck with composite only, fuckers.

I'd get an Xbox360, they look nice etc, 'sept the high failure rate puts me off. I dont want to have to send the fucker off every time it dies and then have to wait a few weeks with no console.

I have my first Xbox360, the one I bought at launch (back in March 06) still works fine. :)

Yeah, but knowing what you know now about the so called 30%+ failure rate, would you risk it?

Considering the failure rate of the Wii and the PS3 is pretty much non existant compared to the XBox360.

Its not all hatin' on the XBox360 here, I have 3 wired USB XBox360 controllers in the house being used on PCs. Only had one fail.

(OMG, thats 1 in 4 that have failed! 25% failure rate!!!)  :toporly:

Oh and I forgot, it was a mind destroying failure of the XBox360 controller too.

What happened was, the controller had a failure where it thought I was plugging in and unplugging a headset into it. So I kept getting the hardware connect/disconnect sound from XP ALL THE FUCKING TIME AT RANDOM INTERVALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Took me weeks to figure out what was causing it. I was well on the way to going completely batshit insane over that one.

And to top it off, the fucking mouthbreather at K-mart almost didnt give me an exchange/refund on the damn thing, kept looking through all these folders and information they had checking to see if they could shaft me royaly on the deal. Fucking motherfuckers.  :grrr:

Anyway, finaly got a refund after like 20-30mins, so then i took my money to Target and got another one. Been fine since.

Works pretty shmick on the PC console emulators  :green:

:orly:

If you get it from the evil EB Games you can return the console and get it replaced by then immediately...I think. Anyway, I probably would risk it, the PS3 has no games currently, and the Wii doesn't have the games I'm looking for in a first console. (Wii is my 2nd console)

The 360 controllers are great on the PC. I have one of the Wireless dongles and use my wireless 360 controllers (either my black or white depending on my mood) to play some games on my PC (FPS or Tomb Raider, RTS is def. not a controller game heh...except on the 360 itself..but that's another story). I also have the Wireless Headset and the Live Vision Camera, both of which work on the PC, so I can chat to my parents using voice and (very decent quality) webcam and use them on the 360. :)

I like how a few of the new PC games (probably 360 ports or parallel dev games) recognise the 360 controller and automagically congigger themselves to it.

Like BIONICLE Heroes (got that for the kids)

I think the LEGO Star Wars games also do that.

And the Transformers movie game. not the best game, but transforming giant robots kicking the shit outta stuff can be thereputic at times  :evillaugh:

Yeah most of those would be the "Games For Windows" branded ones. It's part of the requirement to get that branding.

For the games that don't have that, I grabbed "Pinnacle Game Profiler" which tricks the computer into thinking the Controller inputs are coming from the mouse and/or keyboard.

Yeah, the so-called "store" I get my games from dont usually have the boxes, so i dont get to see that branding....

I've seen that Pinnacle Game Profiler. Works well? Did you have to pay for it or did you find it "elsewhere"?

I bought it, couldn't find it "elsewhere" at that "store" ;)  It works awesomely, you can download layouts from the Pinnacle database, or even make your own, for nearly any controller you can think of.. Worked awesomely for Call Of Duty 4 on PC

Yeah, it seems like one of those appz you can never find "anywhere". And I've been trying too.

Sounds like it could be handy for some of the older games that just cant be configured to use a controller.
