American football is dead to me too, along with just about every other spectator sport.
A long time ago I used to like one of those TV shows with bizarre obstacle courses, though - I think it was called "International Gladiators" or something like that.
Honestly, I normally watch some of it with the peripheral areas of my mind, usually doing other things as well, mainly for interesting commercials. (last night, I spent time working on my new sub woofer concept) My wife was "almost a player" in graphic promotional design in her first career attempt, but could not get her head around computers in the eighties. The ones who could not grasp "computers" failed to move forward in the game. She is still quite the CRITIC, though!
It is an area of identity in which we share. Her comments often send me rolling with laughter.
I really only watch auto-racing on a regular basis.

Most spectator sports are a waste of time, though. I agree.
