Age in afterlife
« on: January 30, 2008, 07:06:18 PM »
What do people who believe in this stuff think that is?

I mean if I die at the age of 20, and someone I know dies when they're 30 (but they were 20 when I died), would I meet them there and see them as I remembered them before I died, or would they look like they did when they died? That way I wouldn't recognise them.

I don't believe in this stuff so I don't know why it bothers me, I honestly don't believe it at all. But what do people who do believe in it think happens here?

Would you have to die at roughly the same time that the person you care about dies, for you to be able to be with them there/? Or does it all depend on the individual people? Otherwise you could wait for ages and when you die, they'd never recognise you.

I don't believe in all this, but if it were true I'm guessing you would see each other as you remembered each other? And the same would go for other people there?

I know this is a gay queation btw,  it's just something that has been bothering me
And I know I didn't phrase it well

Also I know that all sounds like an over-simplistic view of it all - I can't really get my head round stuff like this though as it makes no sense to me whatsoever. I am definitely atheist, this is just one thing I need to stop worrying about.

Having peeked at the answer (in delusions
if no where else), age itself doesn't matter.
Nor does time. More, how much you care.
And how much power each person has.

That is what I was thinking. It wouldn't seem right if it did, as it doesn't really mean anything or change anything, if you are still the same person. Even if you change over time and experience different things, you will still be yourself. If I manage to stay alive for as long as I need to though, i don't want to look like an old person to someone who wouldn't recognise me though, someone who would only know me as being younger. That would be weird, wouldn't it?

You can appear as you wish.
Again though, that's kinda a matter
of comfort. It's easier to be what you've
gotten used to.

It gets into questions of overlapping reality if reality is self-determined. Like what if your lover wants to see you younger and you want to be older? will one or both of you be unhappy (and have your paradise spoiled? :-P )? will you see different things?

Or do you think logic just wouldn't matter in the afterlife?
You'll never self-actualize the subconscious canopy of stardust with that attitude.

I don't know that logic works in
this life.

I see myself differently than others
do. That's certain.

I do too
I don't believe in it, but I don't think logic would apply to this kind of thing
If anything, each different person (assuming there were more than one - friends, family etc) would see you in their own way, and different to how you would perceive yourself to be. So if your parter saw you as being younger, that wouldn't prevent someone else you were close to later in life, from sseeing you in the way that they remembered you, which could be older

I know that I would see my wife,
most often, as she was when I first
met her.

Do you think if I don't die till I'm a lot older, Starbuline would still see me as I am now, instead of how I will be when I'm older?

Depends. Her will will probably be towards what
you are now. But, your own might overcome that
somewhat. Doesn't really matter though. I don't
think such things really effect spirits in the same
way. She loves you, and that's enough.

Why scared?

I'd consider more than just rings.
Like, a pendant. Then again, I have
the ONE ring, already.
