When you're on generic forums, you're better of not discussing anything at all regarding autism. Their ignorance is just going to piss you off in the end.
Certain individuals seem to think that their opinions are more better than others, I'm afraid.
While I'm not in any way defending that guy, you cannot blame some NTs for being ignorant. A good number of them has probably never encountered an autistic person in their life, and if they DID, most would probably not even realise. The closest some get to an autistic is Forrest Gump. They base their opinion on what they know and what is familiar to them As I said, you can't expect them to know what you all feel and calling them stupid NTs just because they don't understand you and likewise, doesn't make them understand any better.
Saying all that, some of them WERE stupid pricks
I'm not blaming people for their ignorance (hell, I can be ignorant too
), nor do I have a grudge against NTs (I hate these distinctions). I agree with you wholeheartedly on the bit where you say that not everyone you encounter is going to be open-minded.
It's just that I've seen this pattern on forums before. Whenever somebody confesses their disability or condition in public, people tend to act like they're in the know after reading some shit from wikipedia for 5-10 mins.
