*wonders if Hadron is aware that Callaway has no way of accessing your account password, and neither does anyone else, as it is encrypted in the DB...*
Ask P...

P - and no other admin for that matter - had/has direct DB access. And even if they did would still have no way of decrypting the passwords.

If you are alluding to P and Callaway's account swap, It is true that it is possible to take over another account. However it is necessary to reset the password in order to do so which would mean that Callaway would have to have known your password in order to change it back afterwards so you would be able to access your account.

You're nowhere near as smart as you'd like to think you are. Students.  ::)
The database any admin can grab, and possibly decrypt. The same DB with a few quick MySQL commands, anyone can look at PM's and the like as well.

Did you know that there are spy satellites so powerful that they can read the print on a person's newspaper?
Be very afraid Hadron I think Callaway in league with the powerful nations of the world and with full access to the highest levels of government is ready to bring you down.

 :tinfoil:

Or maybe not. Maybe you should go down to the local buy a couple of pints and talk over your fears with the shady looking guy in the corner. For a pint he will listen to all kinds of crap and probably agree with you too.
I2 today is not i2 of yesteryear. It is a knitting circle. Those that participate be they nice or asshats know their place and the price to be there. Odeon is the overlord

.Benevolent if you toe the line.

Think it is I2 of old? Even Odeon is not so delusional as to think otherwise. He may on occasionally pretend otherwise but his base is that knitting circle.

Censoring/banning/restricting/moderating myself, Calanadale & Scrapheap were all not his finest moments.

Or maybe I was an admin, and do know that the interface can do. Simple Machines own website says that the database can be searched using MySql commands and the like. To download it all an admin has to do is hit the backup button, on a fast enough connection it could be done in under a minute.

Dont talk about what you dont know anything about. It makes you look foolish at best.

I look foolish? OK fair enough.

Then it is My turn to go down to the local with my tinfoil hat on and bribe the local weirdo in the corner with...two pints...so I can tell him about the Simple Machine's back-up button conspiracy.

Sounds fair.

so I can tell him about the Simple Machine's back-up button conspiracy.

It's NOT a conspiracy. Admin's are expected to be trusted.
It is essentially full access. SMF provides reasonable protection
to the password files. It's not ironclad though.

It would take a lot of work to get a member's password from the database. As others have said, they are encrypted.

More likely, in this case, is that Hadron is an incredibly sore loser who refuses to acknowledge that Callaway proved him wrong, and is therefore grasping at straws.

True it would take someone with a decent sized botnet or supercomputer. Though I am sure some members here have the skills to do it. Or just use a dictionary attack, saving the decryption lark.

More like Callaway is grasping at straws and lies to try to make her case. She has been exposed, and needs to accept it.

Actually, the reasonable attacks on such a database
entry ARE dictionary attacks. Doing one straight at the
server would be an error - completely traceable.

With any luck (and most passwords aren't too secure),
that's not necessary. 'Course, Haddy claims to have
chosen a secure one. I'd question even the govt's
ability to crack decent ones.

They could crack 56 bits back in the 70's. 128 bit should easily be within their reach now.

Thing is, you've been pwned, Hadron. Why don't you give this up, now?
