I think some interests more aspie friendly.  Like video games or sci fi.  If you go to one of those shops where they play war games or collect comic books then there are a lot of "misfits" there.   Or, if you go to a pub where they play rock music and everyone is down to earth and scruffy, it is more accepting.  There are less fashionable and judging.  Some aspies I know want to go to trendy nightclubs, or have social high profile jobs or be popular with a cool crowd, and they alays seem upset becasue obviously they are not making a good job of it.  It is lucky for aspies who have more aspie friendly interests.  That is the way I am seeing the world at the minute.   I share my world views with the people of I2 to see if they nod their heads in staunch agreement, shout in angry disagreement, or simply stare in confusion.  Their reactions help me to refine and test my own views and consider aspects or flaws I may have missed.

Basically you have made a switch from one society to another. I think I have done this too. My interests were always "aspie friendly" because, well, I can only be me.

There are some avenues in life which I have decided not to pursue since learning of AS. I used to buy into the ideals of society at large. I feel an immense freedom since letting some of these go. I know it may sound like I have given up or acquired an excuse to avoid growth. Really though, it is just a more efficient investment in the self. Knowledge of AS is power to do so as I see it.

I don't understand why some people would continue to force their square selves into the round holes figuratively speaking.

The world is full of "normal" people. Why try to emulate one poorly your entire life when a maximisation of other abilities over and above that of others is possible. In a way it is selfish in terms of the grand scheme of things.

The things I have been interested in, I guess have been 'aspie friendly'. My plans were either to working in accounting, or a political adviser/worker or working in genetics, biomedical science or biotechnology. Also that whole nightclub/pubbing scene has little appeal to me.

I think fitting into society was my obsessive interest at one stage. I did everything I could to please everyone around me be that my high school "friends", parents or just the general population. Now ive learnt not to give a fuck. Its very liberating and its teaching me to find my true self. I'm slowly but surely overcoming my anxiety and learning how to be social within my limits.

I like to suck dick and smell poo poo.
This brain could do with some more dimethyltryptamine.

What is the difference between ignorance and apathy? "I don't know and I don't care."

I find that my interests further isolate me though.

"Too ambitious?"  I find that hard to picture.  Ambition and drive to succeed are a good thing, IMO.  I think the issue is more of being quixotic, when something like that comes into play.

However, there's sort of a fine line between saying that people with AS should be aware of their limitations, and that they should pre-pigeonhole themselves because of their diagnoses.  Sometimes pushing your limitations (or what you think they are) a little bit can be a good thing and you can surprise yourself with what you're capable of.

I can only be honest about my experiences.  Sometimes they do not toe the party line.

There are clubs in my hometown where the bouncers do not let you in if your clothes are not expensive enough, or you are not good looking enough.  Everyone who goes there is social, has an expensive car, I personally think aspies have done better at socialising in more down to earth and grungy places, beacuse there are always more nerdy people there.  If that makes me more of a judge and a hypocrite, I accept that.

Not at all. Some aspies succeed and take up posts at the top of society, just by blending in a little.

Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah.  It's a natural human tendency to think "My ingroup is good, all other ingroups are outgroups and therefore bad."  Nothing new.
