Fidget
« on: January 11, 2008, 02:38:41 PM »
I just got through with a really socially intensive traveling experience, and one thing I noticed throughout was that having something in my pocket to fidget with while I was talking to people made it immensely easier. I felt like it distracted my anxiety. Does anybody know if there is something specifically made for this purpose that might work better than something like coins?

I open and close my key...

I came to this world with nothing
and I leave with nothing but love,
everything else is just borrowed.

Fuck it, we'll do it live.

I have a nice large smokey quartz crystal that I fidget with when I'm at some social thingie.  Or I'll fidget with my wedding ring or a large clear purple glass marble I found.

I found this site, not so you can buy their stuff but to give you some ideas. They seem to think it is all for kids but we adults fidget too! :)

I found my smoky quartz crystal at a quarry for rock collectors and my big clear glass purple marble at the dump store.  Who needs to buy when you can "dig" for free! :green:

I also have a nice water rounded  smoothed dark green with black spots pebble, that I found when I was a kid near the St. Lawrence Seaway in Quebec.  It fits nicely and comfortably in the palm of my hand.   8)

I do this as well.  Usually it is with my keys, more specifically the light I have on the keychain.   The batteries are out on it from me pressing the damn thing in my pocket.   I mess with my Ipod's slider and sometimes my cellphone when I don't leave it in the car or whatever.
:P   Internets are super serious.

Tres interessant.

I might give this fidgeting a go in social gatherings.
This brain could do with some more dimethyltryptamine.
