I had some time to kill today so I went and made use of some gift cards that I got. One item I knew for sure I wanted was the Monty Python's Flying Circus whole series box set, so I snatched that up. Then I had to decide what to get with the rest of the balance on the cards. I kept roaming around the store trying to prioritize among things I wouldn't mind having, spending alot of time in the DVD section trying to decide whether to grab a season box of some sci-fi show, or some movies, or wait til some future date on which to get the same movies on Blu-Ray (seeing how the price of Blu-Ray goes over the course of 2008, and whether HD-DVD is even worth fucking with). Or maybe another external hard drive for the computer, for back-up. Or perhaps another memory card for the camera. Alot to think about... but not the best day to decide. Anywhere you might go in this store (or probably any other in the US on this day), you get jostled by all the other customers. Add to that stock people keeping the aisles cluttered with cartloads of unshelved items, screaming babies, kids not watching where they're going, whole families clogging up the aisles, other geeks standing right where you're trying to get to... you get the picture. So I thought to myself, "fuck this", paid for the Flying Circus set, and got the fuck out of there... to come back and blow the remaining balance on the cards another day (like maybe after work some evening after all the holiday hype is over with) when it will be a bit quieter.
Anyone else similarly annoyed by post-holiday crowds in stores?
