I faked Catholicism for years and it ended up working!  I like Catholicism.  No born-again bullshit; no enforced socialization (except the brief handshake thing, which is icky but bearable); same routine every time; the incense smells good; lots of stuff to look at; and like Cal said...a long history of scholasticism and extreme violence.  What's not to like?!

Very true!  But I do think that Catholics are the easiest Christians to socialize with.  All my friends IRL are atheist/agnostic or Catholic.  I can't stand being around most Protestants, whether born-again evangelicals (for obvious reasons) or ultra-liberals (because most of them are irritating hippies).   :-\

There's an in-between. But, they tend
to have a different set of beliefs from
Catholics. It's odd. The borderline Catholic
is more about caring for the poor, and for
life, than most Protestants seem. They're
more concerned with justice.

Generalizations, no doubt. I've known many
exceptions. But, I'd say that's where the trend
lies.

Yeah, there is an in-between.  I actually was taught by several professors who were moderate Christians.  Awesome folks, really some of the best people I'd ever met.  Genuinely concerned about people and doing what's right.  But yeah, they definitely followed a different doctrine that I wasn't really comfortable with.  And it's frustrating that it's so hard to find people who are balanced in any religion.  I wish there were more Alyoshas and Elder Zosimas out there.

My brother in law took a girl to prom later that year she became a nun at 18
She didn't look that bad not hot but okay in all the pictures I have seen

Both my wife and I had a crush on a girl
who became one. Damned cute.

But, I never see the cute ones.
I think they force them to
practice their vows of obedience
on the older ones. God knows, the
priests don't want 'em these days.

I've gone to enough Catholic services as a child.  It is irritating that my whole family thinks I am a Catholic because I was raised that way.  I might go to a Unitarian church assuming that they aren't all hippies.

what's wrong with hippies?

And it's frustrating that it's so hard to find people who are balanced in any religion.  I wish there were more Alyoshas and Elder Zosimas out there.

that's cuz religion is not balanced. all the religions are some people's viewpoints. not objective. you have to be your own religion.

i'm an ultra-liberal. why don't you like me?

wtf are Alyoshas and Zosimas? should i join? :toporly:

Not about all. She liked some things
