I did some too .  For awhile  I was in the SCA and went to a couple events but I don't mingle well

The SCA group in Buffalo bugged me.
I went to some events, but the people
were annoying.

There was a group in NJ, which I liked better.
An older crowd (though I got dragged there
by a MUCH younger thing - ah, I wish).

I didn't like people running around in garbage
barrels with wooden swords, particularly.

Need to find a chapter of the ARM.

Some of the people were older where I went but a lot of them were very cliquey not a very welcoming feeling even for the social types which I am not.
I did blacksmithing at a local museum with my brother when I was younger a few times
