You think that your clothes, interests, etc.  define your gender?
not at all
i wear guys clothes generally but that doesn't make me masculine, no
and my interests definitely don't either, although mostly men seem to listen to the music i listen to as well
i'm not saying either of those things affect my gender though
sex is in your pants, gender is in your head
i've 'known' i wasn't a girl as long as i can remember

What made it 'known' to you that you were transgendered?   What are the main factors that you used to determine that you knew this?
:P   Internets are super serious.

well when i was a kid i didn't even know what being transgendered meant, so i didn't "know" in that sense. but i mean i felt i should have been a boy, wore boys clothes, pretended to be boys when i played games with other kids. there were a lot of things i did that i can see were because of this now.

Gender ROLES are a construct of the human mind that is influenced by society.   The roles and things that go along with your gender are all social.   Naturally your gender is based on your sex.   Though in reality is all a illusion of the mind.   What is feminine and what is masculine is determined by society.   You reject the role of your gender in society and how it has been defined historically.

I agree. People stole the meaning of gender,
for something it's NOT. Indeed, there WAS a
distinction between sex and gender (having to
do with the fact that someone could be male,
even without the correct genitalia), but it was
purely physical. Thus, asking someone their sex,
with only m/f was a mistake.

the problem is in language.

And people's unwillingness to
say what they mean.

This has plagued me for ages and is one of the things that start arguments between me and my wife

I think guy's clothes are heaps more comfortable. I haven't worn a skirt in years.

I myself have never felt girly.

I like skirts. I wish I could wear (and do it right) girls clothes...But they'd look hideous on me. Oh wells. Maybe in my next life :P
