Preferably with moss, but with snow or grass if moss isn't available.  Damp sphagnum moss is better than the best toilet paper; it's like a disposable sponge, complete with anti-bacterial additives.

Water is very dangerous in those conditions; streams have overhangs of snow and falling into one could lead to frostbite and death.

I do.  It's time-consuming and takes a lot of fuel, though, so it's only practical to melt snow for drinking and for hydrating dried food.
