Living situations
« on: November 12, 2007, 09:07:12 PM »
I'm just curious.  Do you rent or own where you live?  Do you live in a detached dwelling or shared in someway?

People in the UK:  Are most dwelling units connected in some way?  Are detached homes rare or just real expensive...  ?

I was looking at homes in the UK and almost everything is "semi-detached" or "community owned".  What does that mean?  You share walls with people?

everything else is just borrowed.

Fuck it, we'll do it live.

Renting in a unit complex, each unit is self contained and not connected to the other units except via the garages.

i live in a semi detached with my mum, stepdad and brothers.

most here (in the uk) are semi detached, but there are quite a lot of detached houses too. usually in middle class suburbs, as theyre more expensive.
semi detached just means one side of your house is attached to the other side of the house next door.

Always rented, since I moved out.
I hate the idea of having to take
care of a house.

Rented - I share one wall and a ceiling with the neighbours.

It's sad not being able to play music at the volume I'd like, but also convenient, because for some bizarre reason, the heating is built into the ceiling (my ceiling, the neighbours' floor) and there are no vents. So whenever they have their heat on, I don't have to, because it comes right through.
You'll never self-actualize the subconscious canopy of stardust with that attitude.

Semi-detached with my mum, who owns it.  I can hear the neighbours moving around at night.

my bedrooms an extension above the garage on the other side of my house, so there are no people on the other side of my walls which is good, it means its quieter and i can play music loud.

I see.  I've always called a semi-detached house a duplex.

This is my wife and I's home.  Really need to kill the algae growing on the roof.  :)

Heh. I'm used to leaching it off my
neighbor's below. If I lived on top of
you, you'd have to turn it on, or freeze.
