The filtering system gets clogged up after a long while, though. I found that no matter how much I tried to clean all the dust out, the suction was never the same again as when the vacuum cleaner was new.

I have noticed that a vacuum will stop sucking up all the dirt after a while and the carpet still be a mess no longer how strong the suction feels. I've been told that these days vacuums are made to break down so you can go get a new one. I think mine is starting to break down since it doesn't do as a good job as it used to but it still picks up lot of dirt because I can see it in the thing. Our old vacuum picked up dirt too but it was a crappy one and when we finally got a new vacuum, it had a lot more dust in it the other vacuum missed.
