Good bargain lutra. Here, unless its from one of the open-air markets in manchester city center, where sometimes one might get a melon of that kind for a pound each, expect to pay 1.99-2.50 in the supermarkets.
I wish watermelons were cheaper though, I love those, or those tiny round ones, cantaloupes I think, the ones that have the very juicy, musky-fragrant perfumed tasting bright orange flesh inside, I can eat those by the bagful if given the chance, and will happily finish off a watermelon or two in a sitting, both fruits, are, along with bananas, cherimoya/custard apple, mango, and lychee, probably my favourite fruits, at least, out of the fruit that gets sold via shops, rather than those that must be foraged for.
There are a lot of wild blackberries and some wild raspberries popping out now round here. Still need to get round to baking a few pies.
Today, I picked the blueberries from the bush at the bottom of the garden, stuffed them into strawberries after gouging out round the stem to core the latter, followed up with a pinch of brown sugar, and then another blueberry stuffed into the hole and capped off with another bit of sugar, served with a mug of steaming hot lady grey tea; served black, with a big handful of chopped up lemon balm leaves, young shoots and flowers and just a little bit of sugar, as I had no honey left, or would have used that. I likes me tea with a splash of honey instead of table sugar I do. I think thats a habit I must have learned from my grandma on my old man's side [now dead]. She always used to drink her tea sweetened with a dash or two of honey, used to have it the same way when I went to stay up at her former house in the yorkshire countryside with my cereal when I stayed the night or a few days, and got up for breakfast.
'Tis lovely, in fact I fancy a brew right now after thinking on that again. Only questions to decide are, bog standard 'generic teabag' type tea, loose leaf chinese green tea, green tea teabags, earl grey, lady grey, or a black/oolong blend, but mainly black from the taste of it, that comes flavoured with rose petals and extract.
I'm leaning towards the last of those, had lady grey the last time I had a cuppa.
