My Edward Gorey book came. The man is a genius.
My former landlady gave one of her cats---a sleek, jumpy "tuxedo cat"---the middle name Edward Gorey, because he was the type of cat who belonged in a Gorey illustration.
She sounds really cool.
I just read out The Gashlycrumb Tinies to my mum, she was horrified I love black humour; the more macabre, the better
She is really cool. She basically lives for animals---rescuing them, getting them veterinary care (including spaying/neutering), and placing them in new homes (or keeping them herself).
My sister loves that book too, I remember her talking about it years ago.
She IS amazing Her house must have been crowded with animals.
I bought Amphigorey, it has some of his best work all in one book
I have heard of that one too, and in fact my former landlady may have owned it, not sure now.
In the last year I lived in her house, she had: 7 cats, one huge dog, a rat, a mouse, and foster animals (a rabbit, a pigeon, and a coop full of doves, all belonging to a friend who was temporarily homeless). She had many foster pets over the years; some stayed for
months until she could find suitable homes for them.
