Spent most of the day in and out of the pool. (Yep, dripped on my chair and keyboard a few times - meh)

Pool temperature:  eighty one degrees Fahrenheit (approximately twenty seven degrees Celcius)

YaY!!

That's 90 degrees Fahrenheit, which is pretty hot for Europe.

I was referring to the actual temperature of the water. It has been reaching the high fifties and low sixties for overnight temperatures, here, already! A couple of days ago the water itself (which is quite stable, compared to the air temperatures) was below seventy degrees Fahrenheit. I could NOT get in. The kids did, but I could not take it.
(I still have a high quality digital photographic process thermometer. I could post the temperature of the water to one one hundredth of a degree if I did not choose to NOT be excessive.)

...   and Dog Days have just began. Last year we kept the pool going until well into September. That may not happen, this year.

The temperature of my pond got up to 19.4C yesterday, which is by far the highest it's been all year.  For most of the summer (which has been cold and overcast), it's been hovering between 14C-16C, which hasn't been good for the creatures in it.  The goldfish can't digest quickly and their immune systems are weak at that temperature, so I've lost quite a few of them to infections and some of them have an unhealthy emaciated look, though others have done fine.  Also, the tadpoles develop very slowly or pause their development altogether at low temperatures, and they've developed more in the past 3 days of elevated temperatures than they've done in the past 6 weeks of cold weather.

I think the pool temperatures here will soon reach 27 C too. The sea temperature will reach 27 C if it keeps on being >30 C in the air.

We call 22 July-22 August the 'Rot Month', because the risks of food poisoning and diseases were at greatest at this time of year before the refrigerators and modern medicine.
