Yesterday I got pulled aside by a State Trooper on my way back from the airport. He did not give me a ticket. Technically, i didn't break the law and was really a victim of circumstances that made me look impatient. I was coming off the interstate and a huge tractor trailer was blocking the merge lane and the next two lanes over. He was also blocking my view of the light and what was going on. I slowed down and almost stopped behind me, but decided to peek around him since I was actually turning right at the light and did not need to merge. It looked completely clear with the exception of what appeared to be an abandoned vehicle on the shoulder half way to the light. At this point I make the decision that the tractor trailer was one of those guys who, rather than merge a lane at a time, would rather block all traffic by sliding across multiple lanes. So I scooted around him and was 2/3 on the shoulder and went through a huge puddle. As what laid beyond him came into view I realized it was not a red light causing the back-up, although it was red. Another tractor trailer was broken down in the right lane (not the merge/right turn lane). A State Trooper was behind the broken down tractor trailer and saw me and waved me to the shoulder and asked me to wait. He came over and lectured me about being patient, etc. and took my license and checked to see if I had any warrants. fortunately I do not, so he let me go. I actually didn't speed and was even doing 10+ below the limit. The puddle didn't help his perception of what he saw as I came from behind the other tractor trailer either. Had I gotten a ticket I might have gone ballistic.
